Torquay has an abundance of B&Bs and we were lucky enough to select an excellent one. The property has been stylishly renovated/decorated and the rooms are very comfortable. There are nice touches such as a free bottle of drinking water for each guest each day and a chocolate 'on each pillow' each night. There is also a bowl of candy on the in-room amenities tray. Breakfast in very good with several choices about what to have to make it 'full'. A useful compendium of things to see and do in the area, in particular a list of the activities/sights that the owners enjoy. In addition, there is a wide range of brochures (on the landing) promoting activities in the area. Janet, who runs Abingdon with her husband, was very friendly and chatty and willing and able to help planning a day out. The only (slight) negative is that the property is a little out of town so it is quite a long walk to restaurants and shops. It's pleasant enough on a nice day and passes some of the major sites in Torquay. Perhaps in recognition of the location, Janet offers evening meals, if ordered in advance. If you're befuddled with choice for a B&B in Torquay, stay at Abingdon.
