The Old Wagon House, views over the fields and sea

Experience - The Area...Just a 15 minute walk down the hill to the SWCP and the sand and shingle beach at Downderry with rock pools to explore at low tide, this sensitively converted early 19th century detached stone barn enjoys lovely views down over the fields to the sea.  Standing in a peaceful rural setting to one side of the owner's farmhouse just one mile inland from the picturesque coastal village of Downderry, The Old Wagon House offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. All the village amenities are just a 5 minute drive including a local shop/post office, cafe, restaurant and pub with carvery. For walkers, the coastal footpath leads to Looe westwards and east to Whitsand Bay, and there are wooded walks inland through the Seaton Valley Countryside Park. Looe, 8 miles, offers pleasure boat and fishing trips, there is diving at the HMS Scylla artificial reef and there are several golf courses, houses and gardens in the immediate area to explore including St Mellion, Whitsand Bay, Antony House and Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. Plymouth is half an hour by car and The Eden Project is a 40 minute drive.  Bake fishing lakes are just a few minutes drive away offering coarse and fly fishing.Stay - The Accommodation...A short level path leads to the front door, set beneath an open porch roof, which opens to a small lobby and half a dozen steps lead straight up to an open-plan living room with beams rising to the apex of the roof and a light and airy decor. There is a comfortable seating area with two futon sofa beds for alternative sleeping arrangements; a dining suite is arranged in the middle of the room and a well equipped, modern fitted kitchen.French Windows from the lounge open to a raised decking area with timber railings, patio furniture and tranquil views over the surrounding countryside to the coast beyond. In one corner of the living room, an inner hallway gives access to two pleasantly furnished bedrooms; a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin and a twin bedded room. A family bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath completes the accommodation. The barn is fronted by a large sheltered courtyard ideal for childrens outdoor games and there is a hardcore parking area for 2 cars. Visitors are welcome to pick their own vegetables from the owners one acre of vegetable garden nearby and may also mindfully explore the surrounding fields. The owner also offers a taxi service to and from the local villages and bed and breakfast accommodation is available in the adjacent farmhouse.Don't forget...- This property welcomes a maximum of two dogs

Great Location
We had a fantastic stay at The Old Wagon House. Steve and his family were so welcoming and helpful. The property is next to the farmhouse and it is very quit. It is about 1mile along a narrow lane from Downderry and about 2 miles from the beach at Seaton. We were given great tips on places to visit. The property itself is spacious and has great facilities. We particularly enjoyed the decking area.

Stay at Old Wagon House
Great time at the Old Wagon House helped by the marvellous weather we had. Owners were great and gave some really good recommendations of places to eat and go. Cottage is nice and spacious with a lovely balcony for relaxing in the morning /evening which is bigger than the pictures give credit for. All amenities were in the cottage and 2 bathrooms definitely helped - especially with WiFi for our teenager ! Lovely part of Cornwall with nice villages to visit and the beaches are quiet. Altogether a great stay and we all had a very relaxing time. Love to come back !
