The Space:
El Cuyo is one of the lesser-known gems of the Yucatan Peninsula, and for that reason, this small fishing village offers tranquility, the perfect place to go to disconnect and truly relax. Casa Sukha is ideal if you’re looking for a tranquil escape to paradise. The town is so tiny, with very little light pollution at night; if you happen to be there on a new moon, you’ll see the stars as you’ve never seen before! It’s truly unbelievable and unforgettable. Also, at El Cuyo, you’ll also be treated to both sunrises and sunsets!
Casa Sukha exudes a good energy vibe. We love welcoming people who have mutual respect and care for the environment as we do. It’s a single-level house with breezy beach decor, lots of open space, and giant windows that let in natural light.
The house features:
- An ample living room area, a Smart TV with satellite service, and two 'day beds' that serve as sofas for lounging and relaxing during downtime moments at home but are also ideal for sleeping 1-2 children.
- There is direct access from the living area to the front porch, where you can lounge in the comfortable outdoor chairs or nestle into a hammock.

- Two bedrooms, both with full en-suite bathrooms, closets, AC & ceiling fans for comfort. The home accommodates 4 adults and 2 children as such:
BEDROOM 1: 1 Queen bed & en-suite bathroom
BEDROOM 2: 1 Queen bed & en-suite bathroom
LIVING ROOM: 2 Single day beds
- There’s a washer and dryer in the home.
- There are two parking spaces.
- And if you kitesurf, you’re in luck! This home is perfectly designed to store your kite, dry your gear and inflate your kites in the garden.
El Cuyo is a nature lover’s paradise. You can take long walks along the semi-virgin beach, breathe in the salty air, and just enjoy one of the most incredibly beautiful beaches you could only imagine in your wildest dreams. You won’t find crowds of people on the beach or vendors disrupting your daydreams as you soak up the warm sun to recharge your batteries. Since El Cuyo is a small village, you can easily walk to the nearby pier, main square, and a few local restaurants that offer fresh, local catches of the day.
Guest Access:
You have exclusive access to the home, including the palapa, outdoor dining area, and patios.
The Neighborhood:
As you cross the bridge over the lagoon to El Cuyo, you’ll see tons of pink flamingos, so get your camera ready! Then, as you enter the little town, you’ll notice a few little restaurants and a couple of mom-and-pop shops where you can buy some essentials and snacks if needed. *Note: there are no big grocery stores and alcohol sales are limited. So you may want to think ahead and pack what you need and bring it with you!
This quaint little charming town has a main square (el zócalo) with local restaurants that offer the freshest, daily-caught seafood! If not into seafood, there are other places with anything from pizza to burgers to traditional Mexican dishes. The best part is that everything is within walking distance!
Here are some RESTAURANT recommendations:
- Anahata Café & Bistro (breakfast cafe steps away)
- Naia Café & Restaurant (breakfast or lunch, coffee, smoothies)
- Casa Cuyo (just 3 blocks from the backside of the house)
- El Chile Gordo (Great for exquisite Mexican food, with an 8-course menu. Reservation is required.)
- Casa Palma (Pizza & pasta with an Argentinian flair, located on the west side of the pier, 4 blocks away)
Here are two very famous nearby nature ATTRACTIONS:
- RIO LAGARTOSs (1 hour 30 minutes or 97 km | 60 mi away) – a protected biosphere reserve that is home to many species of birds, most famously known for flamingoes. It’s a bird watcher's heaven!
- LAS COLORADAS (1 hour 45 minutes or 115 km | 71 mi away). If you haven’t heard of Las Coloradas, well, it’ll now be on your bucket list for sure! The cotton-candy pink-colored lakes are filled with salt and mined twice a year. Note that there is parking at the lakes and an entrance fee.
WATER SPORTS & Other Activities
- Kitesurfing (the uncrowded shallow waters, wind, and perfect conditions at El Cuyo’s semi-virgin beaches make it a dream spot for kitesurfing!), boat tours, snorkeling and scuba diving, ATV/Quad tours, and of course, catch the sunset from the pier! You can get sunsets and sunrises in El Cuyo!
Getting Around:
When in El Cuyo, you definitely won’t need a car. Everything is within walking distance. If you plan to visit neighboring areas, however, like Las Coloradas or Río Lagartos, renting a car at the Cancun airport is suggested. If you arrive by car, there are 2 free parking spots on the premises.
The property is located approximately 3 hours (164 km/102 mi) from the Cancun (CUN) airport. The best way to get to El Cuyo (if not renting a car) is to prearrange transportation with a driver. If you have any questions or need assistance, just ask! We’re here to help.
Other Things to Note:
**The maximum capacity of this house is 4 adults and 2 children.**
*PLEASE NOTE: El Cuyo is a tiny town. There are no big grocery stores, no ATM (the nearest cash point is in Tizimin, 90 minutes by car!), very few places accept credit or debit cards, and alcohol sales are limited. So you may want to think ahead and pack what you need and bring it with you!
*ALSO NOTE: The area is a Natural Reserve with a fragile ecosystem so it’s very important to follow the instructions for maintaining the septic system and managing garbage. Guests will receive a video upon booking that explains garbage separation and waste management. You can only dispose of toilet paper in the toilets. The septic system in El Cuyo is not strong enough. Please use the trash bin provided for anything other than toilet paper. We and El Cuyo thank you in advance!
Wi-Fi, flat-screen Smart TV w/satellite, bed linens, beach essentials (beach bag & umbrella), beach and bath towels, washer/dryer & 2 parking spots are provided complimentary during your stay.
We offer added services like preparing delicious fresh ceviche and other seafood specials for you. We can also help you with tours, birdwatching, kitesurf lessons, and more. Just ask! We’re happy to help.
We kindly ask that you respect the rules of the house as well as the waste management protocols.
