The Old Mansion House
Located in the stunning far north of Scotland, Caithness offers an array of historical and natural attractions. To the east sits the Castle of Mey (3 miles), famously owned by the Queen Mother and now part of The King's Foundation. Visitors can explore the historic castle, beautiful walled gardens, and an animal centre that children will love. Head west to discover Dunnet Bay (4 miles), a picturesque two-mile stretch of sandy beach, perfect for family outings, swimming, and even surfing. Behind the bay lies Dunnet Community Forest, a tranquil spot for nature walks. A short drive takes you to Dunnet Head (5 miles), the most northerly point on mainland Britain, where you can enjoy breathtaking sea cliffs and wildlife, including puffins and dolphins. Explore John o' Groats (10 miles) and the nearby Duncansby Head Sea stacks (11.5 miles), or take a ferry to the historic Orkney Islands for a memorable day trip.
Offering a unique and luxurious self-catering experience this property greets you with warmth as you enter with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor areas. The cathedral ceiling entrance offers a light and bright entrance hallway with a showcase hand-crafted curved staircase. To your right is the library for a quiet space to read whilst enjoying the views of the Pentland Firth across to the Orkney Islands, there is also a Smart TV and additional board games and jigsaws available, great to keep the younger ones amused. The ground floor of the property consists of a beautifully light and bright drawing room with floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that open up to the patio and garden area. The wood burner offers the perfect place for relaxing on the comfortable sofas and reading a book after a day out exploring or watching a movie together on the Smart TV, The very spacious and modern kitchen/dining room is seamless and links to the lounge through French doors. This is a very sociable space to gather for brunch, and lunch, with the kitchen designed to a high specification and offers modern conveniences with a fabulous range cooker to cook delightful dinners together and talk over a glass of wine late into the evening. From the hallway, there is a boot room where you can hang up your outdoor coats and leave your boots and shoes. The utility room has washing and drying facilities and there is a handy downstairs shower room, if you have been at the beach or swimming you may want to jump in the shower to wash off any sand. Upstairs you will find 3 en-suite bedrooms all luxuriously finished and dressed with fluffy towels and hairdryers in each room, and offering views of the coastline, the master has double vanity units and a dressing area, and there is a full-size trundle bed incorporated into the super-king-size, which can be made up if requested.
