The old dovecote
Well where to start..it was our base for two weeks in Normandy..taking in all the history dday ect..he building is beautiful is of a fantastic solid wall construction.with thatched roofs.. The owner was great and answered qurues quickly. I am marrued to a beutifull swiis lady..who has high expectations regarding cleanliness.. And my farther was supposed to be visiting at 80 years if age in good health and walks very reasonably..and us slightly overweight..if he had arrived he would never have got up either stairs.or indeed use the bathroom. As the property description was well very sparring when it came to just how small the toilet bath shower room were. The bathroom is from around 1970..the toilet is extreemly low..the wall extreemly close to your head..we thought wed make the most if it..then the wife got to the kitchen area..the fridge had moukd in it..she cleaned that..the oven had mould muck in we never used that..she removed all knives forks ect and washed all as the knife draw was full of dirt..we used and washed all left them out each day..i heard screaming one mirning..the towels were covered in dirt..i found from ants running around in the cieling.thousands of them..the bathroom was covered in every day.. Now during tge 1st week im sat at kitchen table watching what apoeared to be dirt dropping on the table..and ants dropping into my wifes hair...unfortunately it had been dropping all over me to ..to this sent me into a coughing fit i eventually neededmedicin

Dog friendly gite in Normandy countryside
Gite looked fine on arrival but once inside there was a cleanliness issue. Lots of dog hairs, Marks on kitchen unit doors, fly paper hanging over the dining table full of flies. Only used one side of the gite although the other side was better but we used the side that contained the kitchen and en suite facilities in the bedroom. Next to grazing cattle’s so didn’t open the windows due to the fly situation although this is normal in Normandy and fly papers have to be used but away from dining facilities, please. The gite itself is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and enough games to last a lifetime. Peaceful area. We left early as we didn’t feel comfortable and I didn’t go on holiday to clean up after other people and their animals. It’s hard for owners when they are not on site and have to rely on other people to look after their property. Would we return? Unfortunately not.

Quirky Holiday Home
The Dovecote is a lovely holiday house. It is very quiet and peaceful - just lots of cows! You are close to lots of attractions such as Mont St Michael, Bayeux, The Normandy beaches, St Lo., etc. There are lots of supermarkets to buy bread and cheese, so you can indulge in the great food!

Peace & quiet in the countryside yet close to local village & road links to all tourist destinations
Attractive, well maintained property in secluded grounds with lovely views onto neighbouring farm. Well kept and clean with all necessary facilities to make a home from home holiday. Good for exploring but also comfy enough to spend a day at home. Great location for a wide variety of activities and tourist visits including markets, beaches, gardens, places of historical interest, walking etc. We visited Honfleur, Bayeaux, Normandy beaches, Mont St Michel, St Malo, Carolles Beach, and Dinan to name a few. Owner's provided lots of useful advice and made helpful suggestions to ensure the holiday met our needs by prompt response to our questions. Local riverside walk was an excellent suggestion. Would recommend to families, couples, friends. Probably challenging to the disabled or infirm unless able to sleep on downstairs sofa bed as staircases steep or spiral. Although there are restaurants nearby we tended to go out for the day and eat before returning home or cook at home.

Beautiful, extraordinary place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at the dovecote very much... An enchanted place and special retreat to stay for your holidays. We visited mont st michel, the normandy landing beaches, barfleur, and by chance also so many other beautiful little places maybe less famous but nontheless intriguing. Our dogs loved the garden! Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely house!

lovely dovecote

Bijzonder huisje

Unieke vakantie in voormalige duiventil in prachtig Normandisch landschap.

Excellent rapport qualité-prix.
