INCREDIBLE!!
The common word that came to my head during our stay was INCREDIBLE! The house comes with everything you need. I must say I have family who likes a cold environment so the one air conditioner made me nervous but if you followed the instructions provided the house stayed cool during the day and the bedrooms would cool with the house at night. You don't even have to leave the house if you don't want to. It is like a self-service resort. My teenagers even had a great time. We saw so much sea life during our stay I had to make a list so I did not forget! The water, the sunsets, the view, the solitude, the sounds of nature, the space in the house....everything was absolutely wonderful. The owner and caretaker treat you like family and are very responsive. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Wow!!
This place was so amazing! The pictures really don't do it justice. It is steps from the beach, the sunsets from the dock or the deck are unreal. Jennifer was quick with communication and just as helpful as anyone could be. The island really is unspoiled, miles of beaches with few people in site. Be prepared for bugs, and you can't get around without a car. This is one of the most laid back places we have ever been to.

Great House and PERFECT location!
I have nothing but wonderful feedback regarding our stay at Mission Bay Cottage. The cottage is clearly a treasured second home of the owners who have been active in Eleuthera for decades. The family's love for their home and the community is clearly evident in the condition of the home, its readiness for guests, and the communication with guests from booking until safe return home. With that said: - Home is clean, well-maintained and fully stocked for you to "live" there. Very kid/teen friendly with a large grassy yard. - Kayaking (especially in the mornings before the sun and ocean breeze reach the Caribbean side) is absolutely spectacular. You will see starfish, sand dollars, nurse sharks, sting rays, beautiful shells and fish. - Location on the island is centralized! Tarpon Bay and Rock Sound are a quick trip and have everything you could possibly need. Rock Sound has several amazing restaurants and the best grocery store on the island. You can be in Governor's Harbor (to Tippy's, the Fish Fry, Governor's Harbor Bakery, and more) in less than half an hour. Many amazing pink beaches are minutes away. The sunset view from the back of the home is absolutely stunning! - Bring water shoes to traverse the beach/water behind the house. -Bring bug spray/lotion... you will need it at dusk and dawn anywhere on the island. Don't hesitate to book this cottage!

Great house!
Spent a little over a week at Mission Bay Cottage. The house was fantastic! super clean, comfy furniture and deck and all necessary appointments for a great stay. Ray, the owner, was very quick to reply to booking questions, etc. and John Baptiste (the caretaker) checked on us when we arrived and let us know he was available if we needed anything. The air-conditioning worked great as did the internet. This was extremely helpful as we were there at the beginning stages of the Coronavirus and needed to rebook flights etc. The beach is calm, more rock and coral than sand. There are a couple beach chairs for beach lounging. Plenty of sea creatures to check out. Caught a lot of snapper, etc. No bonefish though; there was a guy down a ways running a gill net, so that might have effected things? Did see other fish and if you walk north to the rocky area near the road, there are all kinds of reef fish, snapper, etc. Tons of remote beaches to explore and Ray's house was a good location for this. Plenty of places to buy food and groceries in Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound. We flew into Rock Sound, but if i did it again, Governors Harbor would probably be better due to more flights and airlines (this proved true trying to leave the island). We rented a car from a guy named George- fantastic and super easy to deal with. Anyway, great place and we would certainly go back and stay at mission bay again! Thanks Ray

We stayed here with our daughter, husband and small grand kids. We had a lovely time and the house was everything we needed and more. The owner and property manager were available any time we had a question. This is a great value for space, location and amenities. I know, if and when, we return to this island we will be staying here or at another of his locations. Thank you for making our family vacation so comfortable. Shelley and family!

Incredible location, beautiful home, perfect beach, very helpful host.
Our family of 5 enjoyed a blissful vacation at the Tarpum Bay house over the holiday season. Ray was extremely helpful in providing information that helped us plan our trip, and responded quickly to any questions I had. The house is simply beautiful, clean, and in a breathtaking setting. The beach is quiet and beautiful. The people on the island are incredibly kind and helpful. There is a grocery store nearby, and restaurants within a few minutes drive. We enjoyed time on the back porch watching the sun set, kayaking around the bay, snorkeling and fishing off the dock, as well as exploring all the beauty Eleuthera has to offer.

If you like solitude and quiet, this place is a great place to stay
This rental is on a quiet stretch of the coast, situated in a block of four houses and had most of what we needed. The balcony is nice to sit out on and watch the sunset. The kitchen was appointed well and the bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. Each bedroom had two pillows so 6 in total. There is a ceiling fan in each bedroom but they don’t spin fast enough to do much. Fortunately, there are oscillating fans in each room as well. You will need them as the air conditioner is small and located in the dining area. We stayed in early Spring and with the air and all fans on it was barely cool enough to sleep. In the warmer months it may be much more of an issue. The internet speed is really slow. It is fast enough to check email or have one person stream with pauses to buffer. It also does not extend past the deck. There are a lot of DVD’s provided along with some books and games for nightly entertainment. The beach in front does not have any sand. It is mostly rock and shells and a lot of spike ball seed pods that are all over the island. Unless you have really tough feet, you will need water shoes to go into the water. The kayaks provided were nice. We paddled all over and snorkeled all around the place. Unfortunately, the reef is dead here so there is not much to see. We counted 3 fish and one small reef shark not including the tiny minnows that are in the shallows. Most of Eleuthera is like this though except for a few places we found and then even then, it is not like Hawaii or the Caribbean. The last thing is the bugs. There are a lot of bugs on Eleuthera that bite like mosquitoes. The biting bugs were bad along the beach in front of this rental and they were the worst at dusk and dawn. Even with bug spray we didn’t linger long outside after sunset cause we could feel ourselves getting bit. There were also a good amount of ant-like bugs on the counters in the kitchen and in one of the bedrooms and a lot of flies in the house even though we never left the doors open more than needed to enter and exit. Overall I think Eleuthera is nice if you like peace and quiet and you don’t require a lot of extra entertainment or night life. There are a good number of beaches to explore and a few sightseeing landmarks worth checking out. I would recommend this rental for your stay on the island and the owner is easy to deal with and the local caretaker is a nice guy and fun to talk to.

A touch of the carolina's in the bahamas
Mission Bay Cottage was a perfect place for our spring get away. Ray was a great host from the very beginning, available to answer questions and provide suggestions and directions. The house reminded us of vacation rentals in South Carolina. Had all the amenities of home. The house layout was perfect for 2 couples giving privacy to both with the master on 1 side of the living space and 2 additional bedrooms and full bath on opposite side. Kitchen, dining area and living space large enough for a bigger group than ours. We spent most time on the porch facing the water. Being on the Caribbean side the water was mostly calm during our week, and crystal clear. We are beach combers so were happy to be on one of the Eleuthera beaches with shells to pick through....no sharks teeth, tho. The house came with 2 kayaks which we enjoyed; guys took the yaks fishing in nearby reefs. House is a good location if you want to explore the southern Eleuthera beaches., yet not too far to drive into Govenors Harbor for the fish fry. We have to give John , Ray's housekeeper, a special thank you for going above and beyond and coming to jump our rental car. We would return to this house in a heartbeat if we ever get another chance to visit this beautiful island.

Great family vacation!
Ray was a pleasure to work with and Mission Bay Cottage provided a perfect stay for our family of six! Our two year old twins loved walking the beach and playing in the yard; our 11 and 5 year old loved the kayaks; and my husband and I enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and stary nights. Amazing beaches all around the area, the nicest people in stores and restaurants, and lots of opportunity to find fresh seafood from the local fishermen. We had so much fun, we extended our stay 4 days!

All about expectations and knowing area
Ray’s communication was great - he was honest about property. The house has plenty of space and overlooks amazing Caribbean - views are amazing and water is beautiful. What I struggled with was cleanliness and bugs - which are part of a beachfront home in that area of Eleuthera.

Uninhabitable! After travelling 17 hours from Phoenix to Eleuthera, we arrived at this property.
My husband and I were only able to stand being in this property for about 20 minutes, before deciding that we had to leave, and go find another place to stay. The main reason for this, was the fact that even though the listing on Homeaway claimed that the house was air conditioned, it was not, with the exception of a small unit on one living room wall. The heat was absolutely stifling! We went into the master bedroom, and it was so hot that we couldn't spend more than a couple of minutes there-- but that was long enough! We opened the door to what should have been the master closet, and the heat rushed out like opening an oven door. There was a dirty old mattress lying tn the space with nowhere to put any clothes. The owner of this property, had spoken to me a couple of times, before we left to go on this trip.. In one of the conversations, he had mentioned that he had just had the home thoroughly cleaned, in anticipation of our arrival. What a crock that was!! The bed in the master bedroom had hairs on the pillow, and stains on the sheets! In each of the two bathrooms, we saw a deep colored ring inside each of the toilets. If this was the owners idea of clean, I'd hate to see what he considers dirty! In addition to all of this, there was something leaking outside, and a bucket placed underneath to catch the flow. The place was generally in a state of disrepair, and it was furnished with the kind of ugly, mismatched furniture that most people leave out on the sidewalk to be taken to the dump. The listing had said that it was beachfront. It was. That was the only truth. The.home itself was a nightmare! The owner had said there was a phone there for us to make local calls The phone we had rented for this trip, was not working. After trying three different numbers, and getting the same recording, we gave up on calling. The recording advised us that the calls could not be completed due to non-payment of his bill! We promptly got into our rented car and left. We spent the rest of our first day of vacation, driving up and down the main road , looking for a place to stay. Luckily we found one by 6pm and checked in to a lovely, beachside resort.I called the owner after arriving home, and politely told him what had happened, and that I expected a full refund. He said he would only give me half back. When I asked him why he felt he should keep half of my money, he became very belligerent and told me to "shut my mouth"! This is not acceptable to me.

We loved our time at Mission Bay Cottage
This was my sixth trip to Eleuthera and I've stayed in a different vacation rental each time. Mission Bay Cottage was easily the cleanest and best maintained I've had the pleasure of staying in. For this trip, I traveled with two other women, giving us each our own room. The home is simple, but has plenty of space, even in the kitchen when all three of us where preparing food at the same time. The dining table was large enough for us to keep our map open for planning day trips on one end, leaving the other end for us to eat. However, we ate most meals on the large back deck while sitting in Adirondack chairs, watching the water. The beach is a combination of rocks and sand, and was perfect for swimming, kayaking, walking, and shell hunting. The dock is great for watching fish, and has a single step at the far end, making it easy to sit and put on flippers and snorkel masks before entering the water. The caretakers are extremely kind, and met us within an hour of our arrival to check if we needed anything. The proximity to the settlements of Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound made getting supplies and gas very easy. Although slightly farther south, we did not feel trips to Governor's Harbor or Gregory Town were too far for an afternoon's exploring. I loved this location and cottage so much that I hope to return again with my husband and kids sometime in the future.

No frills, but comfortable!
Beautiful views, no frills house yet comfortable with well stocked kitchen. No 'live" TV broadcasting, intermittent internet speeds, not good for streaming. Travel tip: bring water shoes to protect feet from the coral, not a sandy shoreline. Owner very responsive in booking process and answering our multiple questions as first timers on the island. Must go into Tarpum during the afternoon to get fresh fish, outstanding on the grill. Rock Sound very nice as well with great marketplace.
