Punta Leona have the closest white beach to the Central Valley. It’s a matter of 1.5 hours drive and you are there. Hotel surroundings like pools, bars and beachfront facilities are good and enjoyable. However, some hotel rooms are not in best condition even though they were reconditioned recently. For instance, I was relocated because my shower was damaged. Personnel attitude needs improvement. Some of them don’t have the kindness you would expect to see. However, some of them are outstanding. I have to mention Kristel, for instance. She made the rest of my trip nice and enjoyable, with her efficient and fast actions that saved the trip. Thanks Kristel!

The property was pretty and the access to the gorgeous beach amazing. My apartment was pretty awful. Half of the lights didn’t work, the shower door was broken, the bedding was terrible- the sheet was thread bare and looked like it had grease stains. Very rundown. Barely any vegetarian options and zero vegan. I was traveling solo and the restaurants pretty much ignored me. There was one server who was very kind, and the check in staff were great. The spa was lovely and the massage wonderful.

We stayed here last year and were looking forward to this trip. The room they gave us was far from the main section, a bit remote. The room was smaller, only 1/2 the showerhead worked. But when I saw a small sign near the toilet saying not to flush toilet paper, I lost it. For what we were paying, it was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a resort!! We went to reception and complained, where I was initially told maybe another room would be available the next day (we were only staying two nights). I politely insisted that was unacceptable. After some back and forth, they offered us a room that was reserved for someone who hadn't check in yet. We were moved to the better part of the bungalows, directly across from the breakfast restaurant. MUCH BETTER!! The room was what we were expecting and We could flush the TP!! There were 4 bath towels, no floor towel, and no wash clothes. When we saw someone from housekeeping, it was rectified. The staff was very nice, Playa Leona beach, although crowded, is amazing. Just make sure when you book, you specify you want a room in the 800 area, not 900!!

Read carefully before booking.You might not get what you thought to reserve. Both hotel and Expedia were deceiving on the room selection. I booked a room assuming it was what the pictures showed and detailed on Expedia. To my surprise it was not what I booked but an apartment room. Good luck calling them it's impossible to get in contact with them. They do not respond in a timely matter and contact # is a nonfunctioning number so find an alternative way to reach Hotel Punta Leona. Breakfast is not included. There is a overpriced charge per person for breakfast buffet likewise for dinner. There are alternative restaurants and mini market on site. There is mini golf and pool options. Pools stays open late, clean. Limited seating but spacious pool areas. I believe it's overpriced for what you are getting. Bring your own blankets and toiletries. Shower and beach towels provided. No room service or after hour. If you are hungry you need to leave premises and go into town or main road. Not a 5 star hotel/ resort. It's a decent, mediocre place to book. I only booked because it was recommended by an associate/ owner. Also if you don't book with this specific hotel you will not get Beach access which used to be free to the public and it's a nice, relaxing, beautiful beach. Beach is a 20min walk. Never found the transportation they stated to provide. I had numerous issues but tried my best to enjoy since they have a non-refundable policy. All premises are clean.

We loved the beauty of the whole place. Lovely beaches, pool, restaurants and our room/ apt. On ground level was very nice.We had a rai forest shower with hot water, luxurious sheets and pillows with fridge, tv, coffee, etc.

The property a bit dated and the rooms a bit small, and we had the upgraded room. We were 3 adults and was barely ok. It be snug for 4 adults. The main pool is nice but the main attraction are the two beaches. They are very nice. Especially Playa Blanca. There are beautiful macaws and white face monkeys. The monkeys are little thieves too.

Roads in gated resort are very poorly maintained. Room wasn't ready at designated check in time. In first room no hot water and water flooded room from missing plumbing connection during shower. Phone in room didn't work to call reception. Maintenance came to fix clean up the watera nd told us that the plumbing was a known problem and room should not have been available for use. Was also told by maintenance that they should have told us that phones didn't work while checking in as this was also a known problem. Evening staff at reception was able to get us into another room but it obviously hadn't been used/cleaned recently as there was dust/dirt on floors and countertops.

Traveled in May 2024, start of the rainy season. The resort is large, spread out, full of wildlife, and isolated. You will need a car if you want to explore off property. The room was great. It was clean and had good AC. The only problems we had were with some of the bar and restaurant staff. Service was sometimes good and other times extremely slow. We had a group of seven adults. Five were on the All-Inclusive Plan and my wife and I were on the Breakfast Included Plan so we had a different color bracelet. The service (lunch, dinner & bar) for us was slower. I usually had to ask for the check multiple times or chase someone down to pay. Servers were watching us like hawks to make sure we didn't get anything free from our All-Inclusive friends. When I couldn't get anyone to get our bill while our five friends were constantly waiting for us,I would have to get up and start walking out and then they would chase me down. "You have to pay! You have to pay!" It seems they were making us wait for no reason. Other than that, it was a nice property. The pool was clean and the ocean water was warm and clear. The breakfast buffet was good. We did not try the lunch or dinner buffets. Most of the other restaurant food we had was good to excellent. Prices were about the same as U.S. restaurants. It was overall a good trip but I don't plan to return because I want to explore other parts of the country.
