Thank you for enquiring as to how I enjoyed the holiday in the little house in the Kasbah. I apologise for the late reply due to the fact that one of my family has been unwell this last week. We only stayed in the house for exactly one day. I advised the owner in the evening of our arrival that we would have to move the next day due to the following.
1. The owner has been very economical with the facts. The house was on several floors as stated and going up the first set of stairs to the first floor is an overhead lintel which I almost knocked myself out on. In fact, my Moroccan friend who came to help us pack to go and find an apartment really did cause himself an injury.
2. On the first floor were two bedrooms one single the other a double along with a small kitchen and lounge which was lovely. However, on the floor was a Moroccan squat toilet with an overhead shower that was used as a washdown and for personal use.
3.On the second floor was a European style toilet, however to reach it you have to climb another set of stairs that had high risers and a bannister only half way up.
4. As I had to keep my medicines in a fridge to maintain their usability I then found out the fridge was down a flight of stairs just inside the front door.
5.Taxis which we were told about would be easy to pick up proved more difficult to hire. The main reason for this was that the nearest a taxi would drive to was by going under a low arch so taxis stop at the arch forcing one the walk the rest of the way.
6. The house had everything as stated on the website but not necessarily in the right place e.g. one doesn’t expect to find the fridge anywhere other than the kitchen. So, every time you want something from the fridge like butter or milk etc. you have to use the stairs.
7. The house was poorly lit. Its webpage says it is not suitable for invalids and I believe that it is because the steps that lead down to the pathway is not suitable for wheelchairs. Neither my friend or I are classed as invalids.
8.The picture shown on the literature one would assume was the owners’ property in fact it isn't. In fact, the owners’ property is further down the little path. I am very sad to say that on my regular visits to Tangier I have never been unhappy with the rental. At 3 pm on the day after our arrival we rented an apartment for the next six nights.Yours sincerely Valerie Budd.
