The Neighborhood:
Ybor City is a historic area of Tampa, Florida. It was founded in the 1880s by cigar manufacturers and populated by thousands of immigrants, mainly from Cuba, Spain, and Italy. For the next 50 years, workers in Ybor City's cigar factories rolled hundreds of millions of cigars annually. Now it is home to some of Tampa's best restaurants, nightlife, tons of historic buildings, and for some reason many wild roosters (which even have their own FB page).
Getting Around:
You can get around everywhere in Ybor city by foot, you can also get around everywhere with the City scooters which can be found throughout Ybor. Additionally there is the Tampa street/Cable Car that can take you between Ybor, Downtown and Channelside. Also Uber's are readily accessible everywhere and relatively cheap.
Other Things to Note:
Ybor City is definitely city living. It has a vibrant nightlife and between that and the occasional rooster that makes its way off of 7th ave its not the quietest place. We have put in sound machines though which help to make it barely noticeable at all but we still like to tell people. Think, staying in NYC or any other major city.
