Smokey Mountain Guest House

This quaint guesthouse is tucked away in the woods bordering the Smoky Mountain National Park. Enjoy private lake access for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Close proximity to national park hiking trails, 25 minutes to the Tail of the Dragon, and an hour from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. This is the perfect place to unwind, as our community is quiet and peaceful, while still being close enough to many of the area's attractions.
The space
This guesthouse is two levels, the bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, and the kitchen and living area downstairs.

The bedroom: King sized bed with USB chargers built in to the bedside table lamps. A mini kitchenette includes a coffee bar (with cups, K-cups, sugar, and creamers), a mini fridge with freezer, and a microwave. A large TV faces the bed with access to all your favorite streaming services.

The bathroom: Features a touchscreen lighted mirror. Hair dryer is available for use. Towels are provided for the shower.

The kitchen: Utensils (silverware, can-opener, spatula, etc), plates, bowls, cups, are all provided.

The living space: The couch can be converted into a bed to provide sleeping for one adult or two children. Large TV with access to all streaming services.
Guest access
There is a private gravel road leading to the property. Parking is available right out front of the property. The guesthouse has an upstairs featuring the bedroom and bathroom and a downstairs with the kitchen and living area. Access to upstairs is on the exterior of the house, which is well-lit for nighttime use.
Other things to note
Cell phone service:
Service is very limited in the community. Wifi is provided!

Neighborhood:
There are other homes close by. Many properties are seasonal cabins or campsites, and many are occupied year round. Please be respectful of noise during nighttime hours and be cautious of speed limits.

Lake:
Access to the lake is within walking distance or a minute drive. Parking is in a large gravel lot off of Flats Road. A sandy beach area for swimming is next to a concrete ramp for kayak launching. Remember this is a private lake for use of the community only, please be respectful to our neighbors!

Community roads:
Your drive up the mountain will be steep and windy. Enjoy great views along the way. Best to arrive during daylight hours for your first time. The road turns to gravel when entering the neighborhood. 4WD is not needed.

Groceries/Stores:
Our community is located on top of a mountain. There are no stores close by, but a 20-30 minute drive to towns of Maryville (for Walmart, Kroger) or Townsend (IGA, local markets) for groceries or camping supplies.

Good Property, Accommodating Hosts
Our childcare provider suffered an unexpected medical emergency a few days prior to our departure which required us to bring our two kids along on the trip. I messaged the host and they were gracious to let us bring our kids with the caveat that it may not be the most comfortable place for them due to the fold out couch downstairs. We elected to have the kids sleep in the king bed upstairs with my wife while I retired to the couch of an evening. Everyone was happy with the arrangement. The neighborhood is quiet and out of the way with many panoramic views on the way in just off the parkway. The rooms were clean and spotless with modern appliances and electronics complete with WiFi ,and Bluetooth capabilities.

Power grid
We experienced brown outs regularly all three days/nights. We could not watch TV because it kept booting down. The last night the power in our room went out completely about 9:30. Felt it too late to contact management so packed up and left next morning when it got light enough. You can’t see in pictures but you are right beside houses on both sides. Not even trees or bushes for screen. Place was clean and dishes towels supplied.

Everything was nice and clean. Very well decorated and warm when we got there. The owner was quick to reply to my inquiries and made a couple fantastic suggestions to enjoy our honeymoon to the fullest. Couldn't recommend enough.
