I have stayed at the Econolodge on Apalachee Parkway several times due to its convenient location for work and nearby restaurants and parks. However, my recent stay during Hurricane Helen was a major disappointment.
Despite the motel advertising that it had a generator, I learned upon check-in that this was not the case. Additionally, I was surprised to find that an extra $50 was held for each room as a deposit, even though I had already paid for the rooms through Expedia.
While the motel was packed and there was minimal noise, we were fortunate to avoid power outages as Hurricane Helen passed over our area with minimal damage. However, the lack of a generator was a significant oversight, especially given the circumstances.
The rooms themselves also require more investment. The bathroom lights and exhaust fan buzzed loudly, forcing me to turn them off completely. The bathroom drawers were not installed properly, and only one of the two rooms had a coffee maker.
Due to these issues, I will not be booking this motel again for emergency situations like hurricanes. I hope that the management will take these concerns into consideration and make the necessary improvements to provide a better experience for future guests.
