"Our family stayed over for a night at the hotel to visit Daisetsuzan. Hotel is very close to the cable car in small town of Sounkyo. We were there at off-season so it was quiet. Hotel is bit old but its a nice experience to stay in traditional Japanese accommodation. Rooms and tatami mattress were fine and fits in 4 people (albeit bit tight). "Dated hotel, as are all the hotels in the area, but very well maintained. Staff were all superb and the food service was very efficient and tasty. Not Michelin starred, but neither is the cost. "

"Sounkyo is a quaint little resort town with not much in the way of facilities, but this hotel helps make up for that. They provided dinner and breakfast so I didn't have to worry about finding a restaurant in the freezing cold. They also have a hot spring, a place to chill and play billiards, and even a movie showing every night in which I regrettably could not partake. I also stayed during Sounkyo's Ice Waterfall Festival, which was marvelous and a bit different from the other winter festivals...
