Olde Tahoe Charmer - Pet Friendly

**Fireplace is currently non-operational, we are working hard to replace it soon. Lodging at this 'Old Tahoe' charmer includes a large and comfortable kitchen, dining room and living room with a grand rock wood-burning fireplace. There is a large bedroom downstairs with a queen-sized bed and an attached half bathroom. At the top of the stairs is an open seating area with a futon bed and a cozy electric heater for winter or cold summer nights. This is an old cabin. The stairs are steep; you must use the handrail, and head clearance is low. The other two bedrooms are upstairs. The first guest bedroom is bright and airy with skylights in the ceiling; you can lay in the Double bed and look up at the Tahoe night ski. The third bedroom is a nice size with two twin-sized beds. The front entry is covered. There is a spacious well-maintained yard that is fully fenced and is connected to a nice sunny deck for relaxing and entertaining. The driveway is long so there is plenty of parking. Bring your well-mannered pet along, too(1 pet is welcome; additional pets must be approved by management, 2 max.). There is cable TV and Wifi, a washer/dryer. 2 cars maximum. Just minutes from Tahoe City, enjoy shopping, dining or the grocery store for your trip essentials. It is a short walk to several public beaches or pick up the nearby local bike trail. There is a meadow nearby and many trail systems to enjoy the outdoors. For our boating guests, this Lake Forest vacation rental cabin is close to a public boat launch near the Coast Guard station, and for winter activities, you are centrally located for a short drive to Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Tahoe Nordic Center, and so much more.
*This is an older home with no updates.

All of our rentals come with fully equipped kitchens; most kitchens do not have pantry items due to wildlife concerns. We provide all linens and towels; most units also have beach towels. There is a washer and dryer in every rental. Every unit has Wi-Fi. There is NO A/C, this is not commonly found in Tahoe, there are fans. Deck and BBQ may not be available during winter months.

Nice cabin for small groups and dogs
We enjoyed our 4 day stay. Cabin is charming and somewhat rustic. Positives are a great backyard and porch for our dog, nice big fireplace (it was cold for August), comfy beds, and good layout. Cabin is a bit dated and dark, so could use some TLC. Would be even better with a better assortment of stemware and utensil's, but overall kitchen had all the amenities.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE!! MOST UNHYGIENIC AND UNPROFESSIONAL HOUSE
Safety - backyard door lock is broken. It doesn’t look from inside. Main bathroom lock is also broken. Stairs are horrible to even walk. Heater only works in living room but no room has heater vent so its not at all livable situation for winter stays. 3 out of 4 Portable heaters stop working after some time. We couldn’t sleep at night at all because it was27 degrees Fahrenheit but heaters in the room were not working. We also didn’t feel safe at night since backyard door lock was broken from inside. This is a major major safety concern and should be taken seriously Towels are extremely dirty. Looks very much used and they are very rough. They are nowhere close to 6 months old. We don’t even feel like using them they are that old and stinky. This is major hygiene concern. How can a host provide unhygienic towels and vrbo allow it? Its beyond disgusting Bedding is very stinky as well. Pillow cases are extremely dirty and doesn’t look washed at all. Pillows are super old. Apart from this toiletries are missing. Body wash is missing. Shampoo conditioners are old. Diffuser in toilet, air fresheners are almost over so owner did not even bother to fill it up. Vrbo support is extremely useless helping with any of these issues. They basically didn’t even bother to raise a case and dismissed. Please don’t book this house or any house on Vrbo if you need good customer support

stairs are a death-trap
Everything was great about the stairs, which are a death trap. They are waaayyy too steep. Some of the stairs move and tilt when you step on them. They are wrapped in old carpet, which is uneven. They tried to put a grip strip on top of the carpet and hammered it in with nails. The nails are uncomfortable to walk on. The grip strip pulled my sock half off, which then tripped me, and I fell. My kid refused to walk on them out of fear. So, there was no way that he could sleep in the bedrooms upstairs and then find his way to the toilet downstairs in the middle of the night. So, we had to take a mattress from upstairs and put it down in the living room for him to sleep on. Other than the stairs, the house was fine but I could not recommend this place and would not stay here again.

Quiet neighborhood, noisy house
The house was as described. The fireplace was amazing and very nice in the cold evenings and mornings. The yard was very green and the trees were lovely. The kitchen was adequately supplied with cooking essentials. Extra dish towels would have been nice, however. The biggest complaint, and it’s a big one…The interior of the house has NO sound barrier. It sounded like the floor was caving in when someone walked upstairs. And when someone came down the stairs it sounded even louder. And since there is no bathroom on the 2nd floor, any time someone had to come down during the night it woke the whole house. I’d stay there again but not with other people and 3 bedrooms is a lot for 2 people. So overall it was a good stay just way too loud!!

Charming house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our party was made up of older women and one small dog. We loved the backyard and deck and spent lots of time out there. The house was cute but the stairs are a little steep for older people. The house was clean but not well stocked with paper towels, or t-towels. The area was perfect for walking and very close to the lake. Would rent this house again.

Quick visit to Tahoe
This house works well if you bring your dog/s. It has a very nice large backyard. It was comfortable, not fancy. The bed in the main room was comfortable, that was the only bedroom we used. We could not get local on the TV, it was hard to figure out. Kitchen was well equipped. We would rent again, if we brought our dogs with us.

Summer Fun in Tahoe!
Our family of 4 had a wonderful time in Tahoe City. This is a great location and very cozy warm feel to the house. After a day of golf or riding bikes on the near by trails we could come back and relax in the spacious back yard for a BBQ. Close to shopping and rafting the Truckee river too. Beautiful street located near a meadow for an after dinner walk. Thanks again... we had an awesome trip! Dan

Great for families with pets
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Cabin is basic but a classic, and the fully fenced yard makes it a great choice for people with kids and/or dogs. The backyard and deck were perfect to play in while it snowed. The location is perfect and close by to snow parks and ski resorts. It is in a great location and all the neighbors were friendly and helpful during the snowstorm. There was a friendly neighborhood dog that would sit out in front of the driveway every morning. One of the neighbors helped get the driveway clear of snow when it dumped several feet of snow overnight and the power went out. The only drawbacks are both bathrooms are on the first floor, stairs are steep, maybe not so great for little kids and older folk. We tried using the fireplace the first night but it did not work well, and the smoke came back in the house. The power went out on the last day of our stay (no fault of the owner), and we couldn’t use the fireplace to keep the house warm. The space heaters appeared antiquated in the upstairs bedroom and didn’t work well, and need to be replaced. Despite the drawbacks (which can be easily fixed), we would definitely stay there again.

Great location, simple charm
Cabin is basic but a classic, and the fully fenced yard makes it a great choice for people with kids and/or dogs. Close to the lake, with a couple of parks with walking trails nearby. One bedroom and both bathrooms are on the first floor. Two more bedrooms and a sitting area with TV on the second. Stairs are steep, maybe not so great for little kids and older folk. We'd definitely stay there again, regardless.

Cozy & Comfortable
This property was simply a joy. The backyard was beautiful and perfect for our Akita dog. Well manicured and shaded with plenty of seating on the deck. The furnishings were cozy cabin style and heater came on just in time to take off the morning chill. Neighbors were pleasant. Lots of places to walk your dog. The Blue Agave Mexican restaurant was great! The River Ranch serves fabulous outside dining sitting next to the Truckee River. Both were very dog friendly. We will definitely come back again to stay longer.

Dog friendly cabin
We (3 adults) spent a week in this cabin and it was perfect! Our 2 dogs loved the secure, fenced backyard and we enjoyed morning coffee/cocoa and meals on the deck. The kitchen had everything that was needed for meals at home. The location is ideal for a short walk to the beach and a nice bike ride to Tahoe City and along the river/lake. The cabin hasn't been updated but that was expected so was not an issue. The weather was nice so we didn't get to enjoy the fireplace but I'm sure it is wonderful on cold winter nights. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to North Lake Tahoe! :)

Great family trip!!!
We loved the cabin, backyard space and especially how easy it was to walk to Lake Forrest and Skylandia Beaches. We enjoyed the walk to and from the cabin through the beautiful neighborhood. All of the neighbors were wonderful, many chatted with us. Such a great and safe family environment! We also enjoyed the bakery and Bacchi’s Italian restaurant which were also a very short walk away. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin! Only recommendation would be some AC, it does get awfully hot indoors. Other than that it was very lovely! Thank you!
