The ferries from Cebu to Tagblarian are always a risk. On an earlier visit, the ferries were not running as to weather, on this trip the ferry broke down just short of the port and turned back to Cebu. Air Transport is not easy as Manila is the hub, and unless traveling from Manila, not a viable option. Tr3ats offers a relatively new structure, offering both hostel group rooms and a few "superior" rooms. I have always stayed in the superior rooms, of which offerer a 3-4" foam mattress covered double bed with a flat sheet covering and just a double flat sheet or two twin flat sheets as covering, a window type AC unit and a next to shower hot water unit which has never worked on all my visits. No hot water is a deal breaker for most western travelers and this time I figured out it is not the water pressure but that the shower wands are clogged due to hard water. I showed the management the problem and suggested soaking the wands in vinegar or making larger holes in the wand. I simply just screwed off the wand, as I don't go without a hot shower. They also offer old scooters for rent, I paid 600p a year ago and 350p a day this year but they hit me up for a flat charge, which I did not witness, but paid, none-the-less... The standard of business is much different in the Philippines, so it goes with the territory, does not make it right, just beware... they will make an attempt at every opportunity to make a quick buck from a tourist. Never eat uncooked vegies!!! NEVER!
