Perfect location in a great house
The house has a lot of cute character and it was the perfect size for two couples. The steps down to the dock gave us quite the workout carrying our kayaks, but the location and access can't be beat. We absolutely loved our stay there! Neighborhood is gorgeous and everyone we talked with was wonderfully friendly.

Fun Fall Get-away
We truly enjoyed our 4 day stay during the beautiful Fall season. Our weather was fantastic and we loved sitting by the lake and using the fire pit and hot tub! We hiked New Germany State Park, Big Run State Park, Herrington Manor State Park as well as Deep Creek State Park. We enjoyed it all!!

The property is located perfectly inside of Deep Creeks inlets and had such amazing views. Check in/out was simple and straightforward. The hot tub was awesome and took advantage of the great views! A+++ loved our stay, wish we could’ve stayed longer.

To start off when we arrived, we walked into the most adorable room with a family game table That is when we discovered how whimsical and eclectic this home is ! EVERY room a little inspiration. The views were amazing as well We loved the convenience to historic Oakland and several state parks Including Swallow Falls Love this place

Great cozy place lakefront!
We visited for just a few days and this place met all of our needs. The lakefront property was beautiful. We celebrated 4th of July on the water and were able to dock our boat right at the house making water sports an ease. The house was in great condition and dog friendly. We loved using the hot tub and having an evening fire lakefront. The beds were comfy and the house was decorated to please the eye! No major issues and we would return again.

Spring Break
The house is a little dated and needs some TLC, but that did not detract from the stay. The location was spectacular. Even in the cooler weather we enjoyed fishing and kayaking. A 20 minute drive can get you to almost anything you need. Communication with the host was speedy.

Lovely getaway
Wonderful time with friends and family . The house was just as described-rustic, older, the bedrooms are small except for the master- but we didn’t go there to sleep - so it got 5 stars. If you want a high end fancy home, then go pay the price for that. The house was more than adequate for a very reasonable price. Waterfront, in a quiet neighborhood , delightful deck/ hot tub/ view. The homeowner was very attentive, responded quickly, and took care of everything we needed.

This property was as listed and as stated in other reviews be prepared to stub your toes from time to time as the floor level changes a number of times by half an inch to 1 inch & these little “steps” blend in with the floor. The views of the lake are spectacular and it’s in a very quiet part of the area. Really well equipped with one exception, we couldn’t find a can opener to save our soul. All in all we had a lovely time and would not hesitate to rent it again

Maryland Get Away
We really enjoyed get family together at this location from the Midwest and the East Coast. The location is more of a lake cottage/ski resort feeling but it is away from the crowds. We were there during Christmas, and it was everything we hoped for. The lake was frozen and there was snow. We even brought our own Christmas Tree and enjoyed Christmas morning around the fireplace looking out over the snowy lake. It was a wonderful place to gather with family!

The cottage was quaint and cozy. But watch out for sudden level changes. There are these little step ups thru the whole house and they blend in with the wood floors. Many of stubbed toes and trips

The shine is off the rose
It was lake access, a boat ramp, and positive reviews that drew me in. Once on-site, I was able to see that this house needs attention - especially the first floor. The electrical outlet in the kitchen was hanging out of the wall. There were ants on the countertop despite our efforts to keep clean. And the uneven floors caused more than one stubbed toe. Renovations are required to raise the quality of the property.

Beautiful views, responsive host but in need of renovations
There are many positives about the property: the location is beautiful and views gorgeous from the house, the host is very responsive and the second level of the property is nice. The house is really a tale of two homes--the main floor and entrance (bedrooms, bathrooms, and rec room) are nice and in good shape. The main bedroom bed was very comfortable but the lower level/living area with kitchen, dining area and living area needs alot of TLC. A deep clean at a minimum is needed. The kitchen is old and the cabinets inside and out are stained from years of use. There is nothing extra in the property so you literally have to bring every single thing you need. Potential renters should also be aware that the house is located at the bottom of steep declining driveway. In the winter, this is a huge concern. Even with my 4 wheel drive vehicle it was very difficult and dangerous to come and go. Our car slid back multiple times trying to drive up with the snow and ice. Most of the other properties nearby have created parking pads at the top of the hill/entrance to their properties to address this issue. The property has a lot of potential but needs some investment and a few additional touches to make this a great rental.

You have to find the house first. Road addresses are weird and the house does not have a number posted. If you look for the house, you will not find it as the picture is of the back of the house. There is a sign that in small letters that says WHISPERING PINES, but the sign mainly advertises the management company. The key pad is very small and shaded by the doorknob. Very hard to see at night. You enter on the bedroom floor which means you have to go downstairs to the kitchen and living area. VERY steep steps. There are ~2 inch steps as you move from room to room. Good for stubbing toes, only once, or tripping. The floors, especially in the kitchen, are not level so you think you are getting dizzy. Although wood paneling and ceiling are pretty, it leaves a dark atmosphere. It took quite a while for the house to heat up on the chilly days. At the end of the registration, there is a second security deposit that you do not get back and the refundable deposit just got posted 2 weeks later. No cell service. Being generous with the 3 rating. No go.

Great location, everything else...meh
The location and boat slip were ideal. The dock could use a little tlc. But overall ok. The house is fairly easy to find once you drive around a few times missing it. First impressions were that they needed aomeone to routinely care for the exterior.; there were leaves, pine needmes, etc all over the ealks and steps which were a bit slippery. Heading down the side steps, it looked as if a small animal, we were hoping small anyhow, had been killed and the fur was everywhere. The deck is nice but as stated in other reviews the overgrown bushes block a beautiful view of the lake. The deck could also use some attention as it was covered in cobwebs, pine needles, leaves, etc. There were several broken chairs, one wooden one and one plastic one. Therefore we didn't have enough chairs for around the fire pit for the 6 of us. Hot tub was a nice add. The fire pit wasnt anything special and you really had to be careful not to tip over backswards, the area is not level at all. Outsode lighting was non existent so the stsors at night were very treacherous. Inside the house was ok.; more camplike which was fine. Our main complaint would be that it just wasnt convenient. When they send you a list of what they supply, they arent kidding. Thats it. We had to head back to the grocery store and buy all condiments, sugar, etc. Paper towels and toilet paper were not supplied either. Cleanliness was ok. Nothing major there. We did enjoy the stay and because we were there to boat the lake we did not spend a huge amount of time in the house but we felt like the amount we were charged for rent , a few of these issues could be fixed and some money put towards some updates. It could be a really great rental if the owners took some things into consideration.
