"The room was spaceous, with refrigerator, tea, coffee, kettle and SMART TV. Everything was functional. Carpet appeared new. Bedding was okay, not the best and certainly not the worst. Bathroom was okay but sink and taps were old two knob, small sink, little shelf area to put your things, but was nostalgic and a little fun. Bathroom light was box and tube type. The bathroom could use an update but it is a motel not the Hyatt. I would return here if in the area again and if the price was right. "

"We have enjoyed our stay, the house was spacious with huge decking. There were ants in the kitchen and water pressure was low, so only one person could have shower at the time although there were too bathrooms.Location perfect for paddle boarding and fishing."

"This is a great place for a holiday. There are 4 bedrooms, all with comfortable beds and ceiling fans. The lounge room has 3 great lounges and a lovely breeze comes through the house. It is just over a block from the water. We used it as a base to explore further north and south. We loved it. "

The River Retreat, Waterfront @ Sussex Inlet

Calm & Relaxing

"We had a wonderful week at this lovely property. The house was impeccably clean, well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and perfectly situated right on the river with stunning views of the opposite bush.We thoroughly enjoyed kayaking and fishing from the dock. The property manager was very responsive and polite. We encountered a minor issue during our stay, and they promptly offered to resolve it immediately. We appreciated their quick response, although we were checking out the next day.Our dogs absolutely loved the water, but the lack of a proper gate made it extremely difficult to keep them out of the river. This was particularly challenging when a pelican swam by, as they became quite excited and eager to chase it.Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend this property. "

Great location, but some improvements needed

"The location was great, right on the water with stunning views. But it was hard to fully enjoy the outside area with kangaroo poo literally all over the backyard. You wouldn’t be able to take one step without stepping in it, which put a dampener on things. We weren’t able to make the most of the scenery for this reason. The outside table and chairs were also tied up with a cover over it, and they were still dirty underneath the cover. They should’ve been cleaned and uncovered for guests to use. The house was great and mostly clean except for the quilt cover in the main bedroom which was covered with hair for some reason (looked a bit like dog hair). The kitchen desperately needs cooking essentials like salt, pepper, cooking oil, long life milk and tea and coffee supplies. There were absolutely no food items at all. There’s a coffee machine but it’s useless without coffee pods which were not supplied. With a few minor improvements this has the potential to be a perfect stay. "
