The receptionist who greeted me at the intercom to the carpark initially refused entry, saying the empty car park was full, and after a short discussion (during which I decided it might be a good idea to get my phone out to record the conversation...), she relented and offered me a loading bay for 10 minutes to collect my bags and check in. At reception, there was a sign saying the carpark was full sitting on the reception counter and no sign of the receptionist. I was instead served by David, who was extremely helpful. He found a carpark for me, and kindly fixed an error I'd made on my booking. Thanks David!
When I parked the car, there were many spaces available at around 7pm and it was still mostly empty the next morning. Weird.
Organising a gluten free breakfast was super easy thanks to a staff member who seemed in charge of breakfast service (I wish I'd remembered to get her name) -- nothing was too much trouble and she was really warm and thoughtful. Thank you.
The room itself was small but clean, new, and quiet -- what you'd expect -- though as mentioned by reviews elsewhere the bed did seem to be missing bedding and a properly sized quilt/duvet (mine barely reached my chin, I'm 164cm). The gym was small but excellent. There wasn't a huge selection of dining options very close by to walk to after dark and solo, but what was there was very good. Use the savings on the room to visit Market Bistro. Overall, good value for practical travellers and I'd stay again.
