Therefore, on most sunny calm days in the summer, the water warms up quite quickly making it a great place for children to play and swim. For the scuba diving enthusiast, a few hundred feet off the property’s shore is the residual of a large dock and various vessels dating back to the 1800’s. On January 1st, each year, the adjoining Lakeside Park is the site of one of the state’s largest polar bear club plunges.
This vacation home is within easy walking distance of a range of restaurants and bars, kayak outfitters, various shops, a grocery store, coffee and ice cream shops, parks, and churches. Besides the adjoining Lakeside Park with its small watercraft launches and playground equipment; other parks, within a short two block walk, include the Erskine Rest Area with its historical little root cellar, and the sports park with its frisbee golf course, softball diamond, and soccer field. Adjoining the sports park is Jacksonport’s Town Hall (vintage 2019) which is available for events.
Just outside the village but still associated with the Town of Jacksonport are other points of interest including Whitefish Dunes State Park; Cave Point County Park (the most visited in Door County); Meridian County Park (located half way between the equator and north pole); two large inland lakes consisting of Clark Lake and Kangaroo Lake; Simon Creek Vineyard and Winery; animal farms including Waseda and Plum Loco; and various other establishments.
Beyond the town itself, Jacksonport is central to Door County. Highway 57, as well as County Trunks A and V, provide easy access to all other portions of the County. These roadways providing easy and direct access to heavier commercialized areas of the county yet allow you to easily return to a calmer village setting, Jacksonport, for which Door County has historically been known.
