Food was really gorgeous. We had breakfast, dinner and cream tea there. All excellent.
Room was very comfortable but small.
Hotel garden lovely.
Drinks great.
Service was haphazard: often had to go inside to seek or give a food order, or request cutlery once food had come etc, as hard to flag someone down once we’d been seated/served. Some staff were welcoming, some were brusk.
Hotel in beautiful town and was a lovely place. Overall, would go again.
Beautiful setting, wonderful food, incredible service and super comfortable bedroom.

A disappointment!
Senior staff member was excellent, everything you would expect. The room was spacious but the shower door did not close, the safe battery was low and flies in the room when we arrived. There was a damp patch in the carpet at the entrance to the bathroom. The quilt on the bed was heavy for the time of year. The breakfast staff were not attentive, the food average. For the cost we paid, I would have expected better. This was not value for money.
This was an excellent small hotel that we would recommend to anyone. We wished we had more time to stay longer and do some local walks of the area. Food for our supper was excellent and the eggs benedict were perfectly prepared with a buttery sauce. The room was very spacious and well done and the full bathtub and separate shower was excellent too.
Beautiful, well-appointed, building in a beautiful setting. Many cozy nooks and charming places to relax in. Friendly and competent staff. And the restaurant is a delight - spacious, comfortable, and the chef is superb.

Beautiful property with fireplace in large sitting area, beautiful outdoor spaces, beautiful room and very good dining room. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Beautiful boutique hotel - amazing massage and breakfast. In addition staff were incredibly helpful organizing and reorganizing taxis for various wedding events and evolving train schedules
The hotel is well decorated, the food and chef is top notch, they accommodate to people’s allergy needs, and staff is respectful and well trained. We loved our stay here!!!
This was an amazing hotel, beautiful lounges to relax in by the fire and very nice rooms. The food was delicious either in dining room or in your room. Wonderful walks in the countryside with panoramic views.
First of all, the hotel is really quirky, luxurious and would be recommended if it didn't have unacceptable elements that would put me off from going again. The food was, despite the reviews, only just above average, but the service was poor. Missing a side order that came at the end of the meal, underdone meat, more like Fawlty Towers than a high price luxury restaurant. We were so disappointed, we went elsewhere on the Saturday night.
The main reason for my poor scoring was the fact they oversold everything throughout the whole weekend. From birthday parties, wedding parties, baby parties, the whole hotel was sold out. We paid close to £2,000 for a family weekend, but couldn't get a seat in either lounge, because they were reserved for functions. Normally, hotels reserve somewhere for guests to go after dinner, but not the Painswick. The lounges were great, but if you have sold them at the discomfort of your paying guests, that strikes me of a bad business decision.
Add to this,
Amazing hotel with fabulous amenities. They really think about every little detail to make your experience memorable. The view from the room is spectacular and the village is like an image from a chocolate box.
Beautiful boutique hotel set in a picturesque village location. Staff very attentive and friendly. Dan and his restaurant team provided excellent service. Interesting food and cocktail menus with many fantastic tasting dishes.
A rabbit warren of rooms and stairs which did not put us off our stay at The Painswick. Quirky signs, parking instructions demonstrated a rather fun loving hospitality but in fact, a serious well run hotel. The food was good and could have been exceptional had less salt been used so preferred to dine out the next night at nearby restaurant. We were compensated so no harsh feelings here and would highly recommend to anyone choosing to stay in Painswick... which is a must in itself!
We absolutely loved the Painswick! The staff is extremely helpful. Great food. Rooms are extremely cozy and clean. Great food. We also suggest to check out the offered spa treatments - excellent!
This is a lovely place to stay and the staff are very welcoming.
You feel that you have come to somewhere special and are treated to some little extras.
The night was only spoilt by poor service at dinner.
