I stayed with Bruce and Valerie for a week while attending a woodworking course (lie-nielsen). I have found out as an adult I am neurodivergent and over the last few years I have had a struggle with my mental health. As an ongoing part of my recovery I have been challenging myself by expanding my social horizons. I did not expect to meet such wonderful people, initially I was a bit overwhelmed at the generosity regarding the breakfast and snacks, it was a generous kindness and consideration for any visitors needs.
I was privileged to have some time to talk to both Bruce and Valerie as they are curious and compassionate folks. I felt enriched by taking this time in Valerie's painting studio and gallery of watercolour paintings. I felt seen for who I am and welcomed.
The comforts were as you you would expect from the description, a newly built and appointed studio separate from the house and gallery.
I am now thinking of reasons to revisit the area with my wife so that we may stay there together and she can meet both of these considerate and empathetic hosts.
