Situated in the Rhins of Galloway in the small coastal village of Drummore, Scotland’s most southerly point, this charming old terraced fisherman’s cottage is a short stroll to the shoreline with its sand and shingle beach and stunning views across Luce Bay with its white tipped waves and numerous sea birds. The area is unspoilt, the scenery idyllic, and the seascapes around the Rhins as dramatic as they are beautiful. There is also the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway nature reserve where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer, and harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters and minke whales can also be spotted. The town of Stranraer offers a selection of shops and restaurants and Cairnryan is home to the Stena Line ferry which makes regular trips to Ireland for further sightseeing. Dumfries and Galloway is ideal for walkers, with a number of spectacular coastal paths, and even in mid-season you can often find your own secret beach.
The Galloway Forest Park and surrounding hills offer further opportunities to enjoy the glorious scenery and wildlife of the area, including the Galloway Red Kite Trail, or for the more adventurous, the 7stanes mountain bike trails. The more challenging terrain of the Galloway Hills (including the Southern Upland Way) is also within easy reach. There are many beautiful gardens in the area including Logan Botanic Gardens, Ardwell House and Gardens, Glenwhan Gardens and Castle Kennedy Gardens, all well worth a visit. The towns of Castle Douglas, the food town, Kirkudbright, the artists town, and the Royal Burgh of Gatehouse of Fleet are all within easy reach. Beach 200 yards.
