"Highly recommend! We absolutely loved the Garage! The surroundings were gorgeous, and it very easy to find. The property itself was spacious, spotless, well equipped and lovely as well! Check in was easy, and Anna, Siggi and Einar were very helpful both at check in and prior to arriving, sending detailed and helpful instructions. I would warn that this is quite remote, so it isn’t too close to supermarkets. However, this is made very clear in the check in instructions and as such we were well prepared. What made this property really stand out and make this perfect was the little extras that made us feel valued and well looked after. For instance the access to a central kitchen with extra cooking supplies if we needed them, homemade cakes for us to help ourselves to, a funny and informative welcome booklet and access to a hot tub in the most beautiful of surroundings (although we didn’t use this). After our experience here, we were sad that we only booked to stay one night and would definitely come back if we visit Iceland again. "

"Lovely stay. Rooms got a little too hot with both heaters on but easy to air out with the windows. Could use a few more towel hooks for the four people. Super clean and easy to find. Sound proof too! "

"We have a lovely one night stay at Skalakot. It’s very charming, simple hotel in beautiful surroundings. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The spa was small but nice, gets quite cramped if there are more than 4 people in there. I think it would benefit from an outdoor hot tub. Dinner was nice, breakfast was ok. "

"This guesthouse was nice and clean. The room was spacious. My boyfriend and I traveled here in the low season (November) and it was difficult to figure out how to access the room. Before arriving, I had a bit of a panic about how we were going to get in (Expedia customer service was not able to tell me). But we arrived to find the main door open and a table by the entryway with an envelope with my name on it and my key inside. No one else was around, but from that point, it became easy to figure out how to access the room. The hotel owners were kind enough to leave out basic food items (dry cereals, milk in the fridge, that sort of thing) so that we could have breakfast there in the morning, because food in the area is scarce. This was VERY appreciated. At night, we could see the northern lights from the property, which was super. Overall, if this is a convenient location for you to stop for a night while doing the ring road (which is what we were doing) then I recommend staying here. "
