"Great character property with beautiful bedrooms that are mostly individual. Great upstairs pool and elegant lounge salon in main building. Only minor issue is the road facing rooms above the entrance has several elderly men who talk incessantly 18 hours a day in a loud booming voice, but there in nothing the hotel can do about that. Beach Breakfast area with its world class view lacks elegant chairs that lessens its leisurely appeal. I had to remind myself all the time I was in a 4 star hotel...

"Staff very friendly and accommodating. Great location in the city of stone town very walkable. Breakfast daily. This review is based on staying in two different rooms. The Shaba was large spacious. The rosemond was small and adequate but the water pressure in the shower was very low and no privacy curtain in the window. The amount of light in the rooms are low when applying makeup or using the mirror. "

"There was nothing which we didn’t like.Very friendly service and breakfast choice was excellent.Had Lunch and Dinner one day and the food was excellent.Even The General Manager made us Feel Very Welcome.Words cannot describe our experience.Would Recommend Maru Maru Hotel to Everyone.🙏🙏🙏"

"Nice area close to amenities, basic service but nothing particularly bad. They don't clean rooms daily which isn't the best but okay for short stay. Average hotel no problems would recommend for a quick cheap stay"

"We liked the place. Room was great etc. The elevator is funky, requiring patrons to fully close cage door when exiting. If not done properly, others can't use. Otherwise, the place was great."

"I stayed here one night after landing in stone town. Perfect spot to nap on and off to get through the jet lag and be right in the heart of stone town. Extremely walkable to sites. The rooms are spacious, excellent shower and super comfy bed. Very clean and was just what I was looking for. Please note that it was a bit difficult to find. The taxi just dropped me off on the main road because cars can’t access the small streets. Once you know where it is, it’s super simple to return to"
