We wanted to spend a couple of days in the Brighton area, but wanted a hotel out of town, somewhere quiet.
Came across the Old Tollgate in our search and it looked really good.
From our arrival and checking in, to service at the bar and restaurant, all the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The room was very comfortable, with almost silent air conditioning, under floor heating (handy in winter), and a very comfortable bed.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. The buffet Breakfast had a great choice of fruit and cereals as well as hot dishes. The carvery in the evening was the nicest we have been to in a long time as well.
After dinner we recommend a walk around the village, which is very pretty. You also have Bramber Castle ruins practically opposite the hotel. Not a lot to see there, but interesting history.
Next time we are in the area we won't even look anywhere else, we would love to go back.
