Mike & Wanda are tremendous hosts, go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect. Can’t beat sitting on deck having morning coffee while the sun rises or watching moon rise at night while overlooking the lake. Had a great time! Thankyou Mike & Wanda for sharing your boathouse and very unique property.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Very comfortable with amazing views overlooking the lake. A boat launch is right on site with an excellent dock if you bring your own boat. Very cool original appliances throughout. Will definitely be back !!
The grounds are beautiful. The hospitality is amazing. The lake is so peaceful. We’ve stayed here twice and look forward to coming back. So much to do: hiking, kayaking, bike trails. I highly recommend staying here!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace. The boathouse is immaculately clean, with a comfortable master bed, and a well stocked kitchen. Michael and Wanda are wonderful hosts. We really enjoyed using the fishing boat, paddle board, kayaks, and paddle boat. We enjoyed our stay in a very peaceful and beautiful spot.
I can't possibly list everything we loved about this place, but some highlights: the vintage features of the property were truly amazing, Mike & Wanda were amazing hosts - they literally thought of everything, the lake was so peaceful and quiet, great fishing, all types of water toys for the kids to use - swim platform, kayaks, canoe, peddle boat, and row boat. No one in the family was ready to leave at the end of the week, we will most definitely visit again!
Very quaint and unique! Breathless views from this boathouse with incredible morning sunrises. Very clean with a modern and comfortable bed. Good shower. Perfect for a romantic and memorable experience.
This place is appropriately named! Amazing Grace is an understatement. Mike and Wanda are gracious hosts. The boat house is antique, awesomely decorated and immaculate. The lake is full of fish, and very uninhabited so it is peaceful also. Thanks Mike and Wanda, we so enjoyed our stay! John and Laurie
Boat house is located right on the edge of the lake! The location is hard to beat. Interior is clean and comfortable. Lots of fun things to do on the property - lake, boats, fire pit. Lots of fun things to do off property - hiking, ATVs, little towns.
Thanks so much for the wonderful stay Mike and Wanda!
Note: the hosts live on the property and there's another rental right next door, so if you're looking for seclusion this is not the right place.
The property and area are a hidden treasure. The managers are wonderful and do live onsite. They are always attentive to your needs. There is one other rental onsite that shares the same dock, beach and water toys. The property is wonderfully cozy and vintage. Recommended to bring a medium/large cooler to keep on the deck for beverages and food. Lake bottom in swimming area is soft/muck. We did not find it to be a problem because the water clarity is 10' and wildlife is everywhere. There are way to many stunning things about this place that make any inconveniences easy to deal with. We are planning on making this treasure an annual location for us.
Stayed with my parents and my daughter and her friend. The 12yr old girls loved hanging out in the gazebo octagon house and taking out the paddle board to the floating dock and floating trampoline. My parents enjoyed the tranquility and wildlife of the location. How can you beat the proximity to the beautiful quiet lake! I enjoyed that everyone was happy. I’m also a sucker for mid-century and this place had it all!!! Mike and Wanda were awesome, the best hosts you could ask for, sweet sweet people who genuinely care about your experience. Book this gem! So worth it.
Thank you Mike and Wanda!

Mike and Wanda made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The retro property was spotless and pictured accurately. They live on the same property so checked in to make sure we had everything we needed several times during our stay- but did not interfere in any way. They were available to answer questions or provide a bike route or restaurant recommendation. There is another rental cabin on the property- but they did not interfere with our stay in any way. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the ‘toys” such as canoe, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, row boat and available motor. We also enjoyed the many paved bike routes near by. We thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife: eagles, loons, otters and deer. We can’t recommend this property enough and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks for making our vacation GREAT!!!!!!
We loved our stay at the Amazing Grace Boathouse. The property is literally on the water which provides an excellent view of the lake. We were able to watch some fish, ducks, a loon, and an otter right from the deck. We also saw the most amazing double rainbow from end to end after a brief thunderstorm.
Mike and Wanda were very welcoming and gracious hosts and made sure we had everything we needed and more. (Mike even brought us some donuts after a trip into town!)
The boathouse is cute with the vintage 1950's vibe. Everything was very clean and comfortable. I was impressed with the strong water pressure and the good taste - sometimes these are not so great in northern WI lake properties.
Mike and Wanda provided insight and directions to several hiking trails in the area. In addition to hiking, we spent time using the kayaks and paddleboat provided at no extra charge.
Thanks, Mike and Wanda, for a great few days of rest and relaxation at your place. I'm sure we'll be back!

I loved this place. It was clean, comfortable and so well suited to its environment, rustic and peaceful. Felt like you were almost on a boat with just the necessary comforts - fit my desire to simplify and be in nature. Mike and Wanda were very hospitable and went out of their way to help us celebrate an 11 year old birthday. We brought pre-prepared meals and a big cooler to avoid stores and restaurants during pandemic, so small/limited kitchen was fine. Kayaks, SUP, pedal boat right there and easy to use. Water a little mucky but kids got over it and had fun jumping off platform while I watched from the deck. Campfire set up for us each night by hosts. One small bathroom and TV and Wi-Fi weren't the best but we would have spent less time enjoying our surroundings if they had been better. It's not high luxury, but I didn't want a suburban house on a lake. It really did feel like a different time and place - perfect to reset my brain. I recommend the bike path and donuts in Boulder Junction. Plenty of other stuff in area that we didnt get to. Maybe next time!
The Amazing Grace boat house is amazing. It is a "wet" boathouse, which means that you can actually place a boat inside while it stays in the water. These are rare and due to environmental impacts can't be constructed any longer. This boat house dates to the 1950s and has been lovingly restored to reflect that era. It must have featured the cutting edge elements for the time and most of these are still in good working order. For those of you not fond of living like the Beaver, even if the boat house is someplace any self-respecting beaver would love to call home; do not fear. Mike and Wanda have added modern amenities like a furnace and TV along with WiFi to bring it into the 21st century.
The boat house features a generous living / dining room with a truly unique 1950s era kitchen, but there is a microwave. This combines to represent the front 2/3 of the house in an open concept plan. There are two decent sized bedrooms that are roughly the same size. Each features wonderful built in shelving and drawer/dresser systems. The bathroom is a bit small; but functional.
There is no central AC, though the second bedroom just have a mobile unit. I suspect it is never really needed though. The home has windows everywhere and positioned out over the lake you catch all the cooling lake breezes. While I never tried it I am convinced I could have caught fish off the deck.
The compound, there is another rental property behind you owned by Mike and Wanda too, is one of only three properties on the whole lake. The White Birch Village resort is next door; but it is separated from Mike and Wanda's by the lake's outlet and other than seeing the people there we never really noticed the resort.
White Birch lake is a few hundred acres, but about 1/3 of it is shallow and only useful for kayaking. The fishing was hot and heavy while we were there. There is an island across from the property and a really nice sand bar that extends out for swimming. A channel connects you to 500 acre Ballard lake. Only about 30% of this lake has homes with the rest being forest. It has better fishing and several great sand bars for swimming.
If this isn't enough to convince you to stay at the Amazing Grace Boathouse then you must not really want to stay in the Wisconsin Northwoods.
We really enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace. It is the perfect location to get away and relax. Waking up listening to the loons and watching the eagles is a great way to start the day. Mike and Wanda were great host and made sure everything we needed was taken care of. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a north woods getaway. Fishing was also pretty good on the lakes as well!
This is our second stay in the boathouse. Everyday is stunning here. The variety of things to do in this area are plentiful. The ability to comfortably do nothing in a cozy vintage setting on top of the water is priceless. The kitchen is a vintage galley kitchen with an available outdoor grill. Bringing extra coolers this year was great. Mike and Wanda are always attentive to make your stay the best it can be. We will be counting down the days until our return here!

The boathouse stay
Very nice place to stay. Would stay here again. Owners were very pleasant and accommodating. One down fault was the owners knew vrbo directions were not right .they should have provided directions to property in an email or text.
Property was very clean and just as described in the listing. The vintage decor was fantastic. View was fantastic. Mike was extremely responsive and friendly.
We stayed in the boathouse cabin for almost a week. It’s a cozy cabin overlooking a beautiful little lake and it’s less than a mile by lake to the nearest snowmobile trail. Mike and Wanda were excellent hosts. They were very helpful when we had questions about the cabin or any questions regarding the lake, snowmobile trails, places to eat, etc. We appreciate there kindness and their help throughout our stay! We look forward to staying in their cabin again during the winter to snowmobile in the area or in the summer to experience life on the lake!
We loved staying at this boathouse. The property was located close to many of our favorite winter trails. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Even in winter, the views overlooking the lake from the huge picture windows were beauteous. The property is very clean and well maintained.
Situated above a boathouse right on the water’s edge, this Amazing Grace cabin had all the comforts of home and beautiful views out of two bay windows. Hosts Mike and Wanda were helpful in orienting us during checking and pointing out good places to hike or eat. We greatly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return this summer!
This place is a gem in the north woods. It is quiet and the views of the lake are second to none. This place is perfect for small families or a group of 3-4 friends. The fishing is fantastic and the location to plenty of other lakes and trails is perfect. Mike and Wanda are great to deal with. I will definitely be staying here again.
This was a much needed get away - for sanity's sake. It was a bit chilly for the time of year, but I am used to the Northwoods adventure (the Hubs - not so much) Always bring layers, even in July. Other than that, the cottage was immaculate, the hosts were gracious and the fishing wasn't too bad (Caught 2 Northerns) White Birch Lake is the smallest of a 3 lake chain, but we were only able to get to 2 of them. We made a lot of good memories on this trip and had time to reflect what is going on in this crazy world - but what better place to reflect on your blessings than up in the Northwoods! Highly reccomended and looking forward to seeing the property in another year or so, since it is a work in progress!
