"Before I left for Belize, I was in a dark place. I booked this trip as a last-ditch effort to find some peace of mind, and looking back, it was the best decision I could’ve made. I originally planned to stay somewhere else, but when that resort was fully booked, I landed here instead—and I truly believe everything happens for a reason. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, safe, and cared for. I met some incredible people who I can’t even call staff—they felt like friends. Michelle, Wilber, King, Kobe, Tanisha—everyone was so kind, and once they found out I was traveling solo, they always checked on me. Michelle even helped me find someone to do my hair! Their warmth made my stay unforgettable. About Hopkins Village: This isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a place to experience. Everyone smiles at you, everyone is kind—just make sure you’re kind back. It’s a humble beachside village full of love, culture, and flavor, and that’s what makes it special. A Few Things to Know: 🔹 No full-length mirror in my room—something to keep in mind if that matters to you. 🔹 The restaurant closes about an hour after check-in (around 4:30 PM), so if you’re arriving late, grab some food beforehand or wait until dinner at 6. Other than that, this stay was exactly what I needed. If you’re looking for a resort where you’re treated like family, where the people truly care, and where you can reconnect with yourself in a beautiful, peaceful setting, this is the place. I'd return in a beat."

"The Mariposa was perfect from the start, even during our planning. They assisted us in our trip plans from Belize City to Placenia by booking our flights and providing information. They also provided transportation from the airport to the resort. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff and a tropical cocktail or mocktail. Our accommodations in the tree house exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had plenty of amenities. It is also beautiful. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, accommodating, and resourceful. The food and drinks at the restaurant on premises were delicious. There was a good variety of options as well as some authentic Belizean dishes. When I travel outside the U.S., I enjoy experiencing other cultures. We were able to do that at the Mariposa. I’d like to mention that George, Miguel, Donny, and Gladys were exceptional. They went out of their way each and every time we wanted or needed anything. Donny really took special care of us in all aspects of our trip- food, recommendations for tours and places to eat or drink or shop. Gladys coordinated our tours for when we wanted to do them. "Maria at the checkin was great, she arranged for us to be checked in the room asap, even though we were 3 hours early. Nice small resort with 9 rooms/Cabanas. Restaurant was really good, Joe and Danny will take good care of you. There are a few other restaurants options along the Maya beach strip within a few minute drive or 5 to 10 min walk. On calm days you can snorkel right at the end of the dock. Not coral reef, but lots of fish and starfish to see. "
