We visited the Sawtooths for just over a week to get out on the trails and soak in the hot springs. Eric, Erika and their maintenance team were so incredibly kind, proactive and helpful throughout our stay. I have never had such support from a VRBO host before. They were nothing but wonderful. Eric messaged us before our arrival to make sure we had the right directions and to clarity we would lose data en route. They kindly suggested we text them when we arrived so they would know we got there safely. Throughout the week, we got texts every so often to make sure we had everything we needed. They were very responsive and helped guide us through turning off all warmers/heat in the unit for the hot days and ensured we knew how to work the AC unit. Despite the heat, we stayed very cool!
Perks of our visit:
- WiFi for two of us working remotely, which easily handled us both on VPN and video calls all day, and while streaming shows
- A dedicated office space for working in solitude
- FireTVs in all the rooms so we could Netflix and chill when the temps got too high for us to be on the trails (Netflix was provided).
- Proximity to the Sunbeam Cafe for coffee and meals.
- Proximity to multiple hot springs and Stanley for food, drinks and trailheads. We woke up early when it was 40-50 degrees and enjoyed our coffee in the hot springs without any other visitors.
- AC and plenty of ceiling fans for hot days/nights.
- Ice machine
- External outlets for an electric grill (the one provided is propane) or even a car charger
- Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, garbage bags, etc. are all provided at the unit
- Washer and dryer (new) provided in the unit, with detergent
- Marshmallow roasting sticks, wood for the fire pit are all provided
Recommendations for future guests:
- Screenshot/download the packet of info before you depart for the area so that you have the WiFi password, directions, and the key box code before you arrive. If you have trouble with the key box you'll need to be able to text/call via the WiFi.
- After turning left on to Yankee Fork, follow the paved road until you hit gravel, then look for the Sunbeam Cabins/Resort sign on your right, turn right there and follow the short road until you get to the brown house with the green roof on the right. This route was less pothole-y than the recommended route.
- For the AC unit, attempt to turn the dial at quarter intervals until you get to the highest setting. It's pretty strong!
