Shenandoah Yurt is a one-of-a-kind luxury retreat perched in the serene seclusion of the mountains. You’ll find no compromises with respect to premier cabin-like construction, modern amenities, a hot tub, wood-burning stove, archery, EV charger, sizable elevated deck, pool table, board games and so much more! This extraordinary stay is surrounded by the colorful environs of Shenandoah National Park at an elevation of over 2,500 ft! Experience #YurtLife—just 2 hours away from Washington DC!
Shenandoah Yurt is a custom wooden yurt that is nestled 1 mile away (as the crow flies) from Shenandoah National Park. Constructed using the finest materials and significant attention to detail, this space will invite you and your family and friends to immediately make yourselves at home. Furnished with plenty of modern conveniences, the yurt sets out to provide a unique experience offering comforts akin to those of a chic boutique hotel. Whip up an omelette with the dozen fresh organic local eggs awaiting you, embrace your inner yogi with a morning routine on the large deck, or soak in the outdoor hot tub under a starry night sky—the choice is yours! As our property was designed with nature in mind, we also provide an EV charging station for those in need.
Shenandoah Yurt is best suited for 4 people, as there are 2 bedrooms featuring queen-size beds. However, the yurt can accommodate up to 8 people, with a king-size sleeper sofa in the loft (listed as a bedroom as we have a privacy screen) and a large sleeper couch in the living area. Linens, sleeping eye masks, earplugs, an iron, and umbrellas are all available for your convenience.
Beyond this, the property boasts a dependable climate control system, wood-burning stove, hot tub, WiFi (full disclosure that this is slow and intermittent due to the yurt’s remote location, but we are on the Starlink waiting list to ensure future improvement), and a smart TV with Disney Plus and Netflix. We also have a PlayStation 5 with 4 controllers and various games, smart speakers, a dedicated workspace, a pool table, and a variety of board games. With respect to outdoor activities, please note that guests are welcome to bring their own e-bikes for convenient access to the national park, just a 15-minute ride away.
The yurt boasts a full kitchen complete with an island, dining table, cookware, utensils, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, multicooker/rice-maker, and a Nespresso coffee machine! You’ll have everything you need to engage in your morning and evening rituals, and, of course, wine glasses to sip vino during your afternoon wine and cheese happy hour!
With respect to design, the yurt features an open floor plan living room with vaulted ceilings, windows offering panoramic views, a glass dome, and a loft with a pool table. A washer/dryer combo unit is located on the main level for your convenience.
To help maintain a sparkling clean environment, we kindly ask that guests remove their shoes upon entering the yurt.
Please keep in mind that the house is CHILD-FRIENDLY, BUT NOT CHILDPROOF.
OUTDOOR LIVING: large deck with 7-person jacuzzi hot tub, propane grill with rotisserie kit, and propane gas fire column. On the right side of the yurt, you will find a fire pit, cornhole game, and archery stand.

IMPORTANT
Our yurt is in the woods and thereby surrounded by a variety of wildlife—perhaps even a bear or two. With this in mind, guests must carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package all food to prevent pest infestations. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD OR TRASH OUTSIDE, WHICH WILL ATTRACT WILD ANIMALS.
Cell service
Shenandoah Yurt is located in a remote, rural location. There is no cell service in the yurt, but guests will find weak coverage at the entrance of the Skyline Lakes community.
Property capacity and guest restrictions
Only guests included in the booking record are allowed on the premises, and violations of this rule will result in the immediate eviction of all visitors without a refund. Therefore, it is important to include the correct number of guests in the reservation, so please update accordingly if that number changes after your initial booking. The number of guests is strictly limited to 8, requiring that 2 people sleep at the loft and 2 people sleep on a sleeper sofa in the living room.
Pets
Pets are permitted in or around the property with a $50 fee and pre-approval. Please send us a message including a photo, age, and relevant details for your pet(s), knowing that all four-legged friends must be well-trained.
Property quiet hours
Our property quiet hours of 10pm to 6am are dictated by county ordinance and enforced by local police. If law enforcement responds to a noise complaint, every individual on the property may face a misdemeanor criminal charge and be subject to a county fine of $250. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without a refund.
No fireworks
Fireworks are strictly prohibited on the grounds, and guests who violate this rule will be required to vacate the property without a refund and face subsequent fines.
Additional cleaning fees
At the sole discretion of the host, an additional cleaning fee of $90 will be incurred if additional clean-up is required that rises above the standard cleaning process.
Damage payments
Any damage to property or furnishings that exceeds the deposit amount will be billed to the guest and reported to Airbnb.
Pass-along fee
If a guest violates Airbnb house rules and thereby triggers a refund/discount for the next guest scheduled to visit the property, the offending party will be responsible for any loss of income incurred by the host.
Trash
A garbage bin enclosure is located outside the yurt. Please leave all trash bags inside the trash bins, and always ensure the garbage bin enclosure is properly locked. Due to abundant wildlife, absolutely no trash should be left anywhere outside.
Waiver of liability for use of archery
Guests acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in the use of the bow. Guests voluntarily assume the risk of injury, accident, or death which may arise from the use of the bows. By using the archery guests agree to follow all house rules associated with it and release the host from all liability relating to injuries that may occur while using the archery, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence. Archery rules and instructions will be provided in the welcome packet after the reservation is complete. Guests are responsible for any damages caused to the archery or equipment.
Waiver of liability for use of hot tub
The guests agree to use extreme caution and care in the hot tub on the premises and to pay any and all repair charges for damage to the hot tub and/or property caused by the guests.
Guests further agree that everyone using a hot tub will shower and clean feet upon the use of the hot tub.
Furthermore, the agreement is made that NO oils, bubble bath, soaps, other liquids, or any other harmful materials will be used in the hot tub.
No glass products whatsoever are allowed in or around the hot tub. If any items such as soaps, bath products, food, alcohol, etc. are found in the tub, the guest will be charged a cleaning fee of $200.
Damage to a hot tub cover will result in a $400 charge. The cover should remain on the hot tub at all times when not in use. Guests agree that there will be no horseplay in the hot tub as well as not to sit on, jump on, or misuse the hot tub cover in any manner.
Guests acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in the use of the hot tub. Guests voluntarily assume the risk of injury, accident, death, personal injury, or property damage that may arise from the use of the hot tub. By using the hot tub guests agree to follow all house rules associated with it and release the host/property owner from any and all claims, liability, or losses whatsoever arising out of or in any way associated with the guests’ use of the hot tub, including but not limited to death, personal injury, or property damage, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.
The Skyline Lakes is a rustic cabin community, surrounded on 3 sides by Shenandoah National Park, at an elevation of 3,000 feet. It features gravel roads with steep grades. In snowy conditions, we strongly advise driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle equipped with chains. Please take this warning seriously, as the yurt is located in a remote location, and towing is expensive. We do not offer refunds or cancellations due to weather, so familiarize yourself with related expectations and prepare accordingly before you book.
Locked away in the mountains, you will enjoy all the privacy you need while appreciating a short drive to popular tourist attractions during any season. The Shenandoah Yurt is only 10 minutes away from the Jordan Hollow Stables and Skyline Drive. Other nearby activities include:
~ 13 min to Wisteria Farm and Vineyard
~ 15 min E-bike ride via Fire Road to Shenandoah Park (or 30 min car ride to the park entrance)
~ 22 min to Hawksbill Brewing Company
~ 25 min to zip lining
~ 25 min to Luray Caverns
~ 25 min to Luray Zoo
~ 28 min to Castle Vineyards
~ 35 min to Shenandoah River (tubing, rafting, kayaking)

and much more…
To help maintain a sparkling clean environment, we kindly ask that guests remove their shoes upon entering the yurt.
