Everything in the room worked. Quirky property. Excellent evening meal.

Disliked: Staff & service
closed accomodation
highly disappointed having booked this accomodation for a solo traveller, to receive a call several hours later to advise that the pub would not be open as it was a monday and pin code access would be available with key for room being in door.
we were the only occupant within the hotel and it was a very unnerving experience.
fortunately our operative on that day was a male, it wouldn't have been very pleasant if it had been a female.
Lovely place, great food, but breakfast at 8am is too late for business folks. Also the young lady waiting on hasn't tasted all the desserts, how can she advise the customers properly?

It`s getting there.
friendly and helpful staff, bedroom was clean and adequate for a short stay if a bit noisy as it overlooked the main road. We had some bathroom issues in that there was no hot water to the basin or bath (there was a shower) plus the toilet seat was in need of replacement however issues are bound to occur in this trade and its how you deal with them, this was dealt with financially and very quickly. The menu was limited but the food was excellent, breakfast was also very good, no continental option though. A lot of effort has gone into the "pub" side of things, if the care and attention carries on into the accommodation then this will be a winner.
Really quaint country pub set in beautiful surroundings. Staff were great very attentive and the food was fabulous would highly recommend if you want a really quiet stay.
Just spent a quiet and comfortable night at The Royal Oak… Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean.
We enjoyed two very tasty meals, dinner and Breakfast. My husband had the Muton Burger for dinner which he said was probably the best burger he had ever eaten.. I had a lovely vegetarian option and desert.
Thinking dinner couldn’t be beaten, the next morning we had a fantastic full breakfast with sausages and eggs, sourced locally.
We read the reviews on The Royal Oak and can say that if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable time away with home comforts and good food, give The Royal Oak a try.
What a lovely place! Very welcoming, breakfast was excellent and the chef kindly chopped up a sausage for our dog which was a nice surprise. Our room was very spacious, ensuite shower room was fine and we had great views over fields and the river. The village is charming but be aware there are no amenities. Short drive from Stamford and Rutland Water so a great base for exploring the area. Would highly recommend.
Lovely rooms in a pub with a good restaurant.
Don’t expect a quiet early night or a lie-in in the morning . The music from the pub can be clearly heard in the bedroom and comes on at 8.00 and isn’t switched off until 22.00 or even 23.00. The reaction of the owner when asked to turn the music down was “don’t know what you’re used to, that’s how we do things here in the pub”!
This is a very friendly and welcoming pub. The food at dinner was ok but not exceptional and the service was a bit slow but probably due to new staff being trained.
Our room was a really good size but as you would expect with an older property you can hear the noise from surrounding rooms and the bar below.
An excellent stay in this decent value hotel. We were on a family road trip and the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible . This was emphasised by a telephone call to our car 20 minutes AFTER we left on our journey home . Some important medication had been inadvertently left behind and the staff were anxious to inform us as soon as possible. We were about to quickly return and retrieve the meds . Thanks again to the team .
Located at the edge of a beautiful unspoilt village.
The only downside was in a summer with the need to have windows open the noise from the busy main road is loud.
Other than that everything was perfect for a short stay.
All staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food we ordered for our evening meal was delicious as was my full English breakfast. My wife was very pleased with her continental breakfast.
We recommend a walk through the village to the parish church and just a little further to the water mill.
