"This house is lovely, clean, tidy and literally everything you need.Kitchen fully equipped, and lots of basics in cupboards, salt, pepper, herbs. Oils etc.. the courtyard is a suntrap and great for outside dining. Lounge is on top floor, which is a wee bit strange, but quirky, we didnt use it and spent most of time round the big kitchen table or outside. Masses of little towns and villages to visit around and near Issygeac. Bergerac 15 mins away.Local spar is expensive, but handy in an emergency, bakery is fantastic and 2 mins from house. Hair dryer gave up and owner got her friend next door to let me borrow one...life saver.All in all a most enjoyable week in the Dordogne."

"This place is great, beautiful all around. I will be back. If you´re going by train, do call Christine, the owner, in advance. If she can, she will pick you up at la gare. Otherwise you have to download Sarlat´s taxi cab application before going, because there is no Uber nor a normal taxi service in town. Walking to the hotel from the Centre Ville will take around 10 minutes and it´s uphill. From la gare...maybe 20... but with luggage it can be hard. Ohh! Do sign up for breakfast and Christine´s amazing brownies and listen carefully to her recommendations. She really knows her region and will advise you wisely."

"A former 15th century residence, Le Petit Manoir is long on charm but if you're not good with stairs, be sure to book a ground-level room. Our room, The Colette, was reachable only by a spiral staircase that is not for the faint-hearted. The ceiling beams were charming but head-bumping hazards if you're tall. We were traveling without a car and the staff was helpful in booking us taxis (a car would have been handy but we're getting too old to drive in France). Breakfast had lots a variety and great baked goods. The location can't be beat, and I'd imagine in the summer it would be quiet oasis mere footsteps from where the action is. We would recommend this hotel to friends who like historic properties."

"La Villa des Consuls is located in the heart of old Sarlat, with all the amenities that entails. The staff is nice and helpful, putting us in touch with a great guide and setting up our taxis to and from the rail station. Breakfast is tasty and reasonably priced, but above all, our two bedroom room was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. It also included a usable kitchen and a small balcony overlooking the main commercial street. Despite that, it was quiet. I highly recommend this hotel."

"1. Arrive in the daylight! This is Deep France, so it's a little confusing to find in the dark. 2. Stay in the Chateau part of the house. Our romantic room was BEAUTIFUL and just like the photos. Our -in-laws had a family room, and it was very large! 3. You should reserve for dinner since there isn't much else if you arrive in the evening. We missed it and ended up eating pizza in a parking lot! 4. Breakfast "buffet" was impressive, both the beautiful DR setting and the variety of food. Worth the $. 5. We were there in March, so still early spring, but the pool area and grounds looked very inviting for warmer weather. 6. Excellent treatment at reception for both arrival and departure. 7. Room/beds/AWESOME shower! We would love to return!"
