Beautiful Setting and Great Experience
We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at this property. The setting and grounds are beautiful; the house was spacious and well-appointed; and Lisa was a very attentive and gracious host. Thank you!

Lovely historic house on the water
We just recharged at this lovely, thoughtfully restored and thoroughly modernized historic house on the water. From watching spectacular sunrises, working crab boats and a magnificent great heron perched on the dock to learning more about the area and being surrounded by articles and items from the house’s historical era, our stay was a delight.

We enjoyed our time spent at Cranford on the Miles. The house and property was well provided for. The screened in porch was enjoyed all weekend by all of us even our four legged friends. We would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing stay at St. Michaels.

Relaxing weekend by the water
This was the perfect place for our Memorial Day girls trip! We spent the weekend doing yoga on the dock, cooking meals together in the large kitchen, eating dinner on the screen porch, and watching the sunrise. It was also very quick and easy to get into town in St Michaels for restaurants and shopping. We would love to come back!

Interesting historic property
Everything was as described and photos were accurate. Lots of nice space and we enjoyed watching the horseshoe crabs on the beach and saw a tiny jellyfish and what may have been dolphins in the river. The wifi worked fine and we really enjoyed the cute town of St. Michaels and the maritime museum.

Lovely Spring Break
We stayed here at the end of March with our family of 3 kids ages 3 to 13 and Grandma. Crabbing season doesn’t start until April so we found some things in the area were closed for the season, but it didn’t matter because we had a fantastic time at this magical waterfront property. They have taken great care of this historical property and filled it with so many interesting artifacts! We enjoyed fishing off the dock, and seeing ospreys, bald eagles, herons and numerous song birds. We brought our bikes and enjoyed several rails to trails bike paths in the area. Just a short drive to town and all of its charming shops. Owner was wonderful, beds comfortable, great communication. We hope we can return soon!

Amazing property with views for Miles (pun intended)!!!!
A true original Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore estate with terrific water access via nice dock into the beautiful Miles River. The house is filled with so very many historic and labeled artifacts and antiques. Lots of sitting areas throughout the home and a wonderful wrap around screened in porch overlooking the water. We will be back!

Wonderful escape for New Years
We rented this property for the location; but thoroughly enjoyed so much more about it. Even though the weather was not great, we were able to enjoy the beautiful waterfront views throughout the house. I can only imagine how much more enjoyable it is during more pleasant weather. The inside was beyond charming. The character was spectacular and the special touches throughout the house were impressive; yet it was nicely updated with many modern conveniences. And, yes, the location was perfect, too. Just outside of St Michael's and not far from quaint Easton. We enjoyed visits to both. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing waterfront getaway.

Good for long weeknd
My family stayed here for a family reunion. The check-in process was efficient and the host contacted me to make sure everything was okay upon arrival and departure. The property is very nice, albeit old-timey--this is clear in the description. Air conditioning works, as do the kitchen appliances. Only complaint was that I killed 15-20 flies in the kitchen over the course of 3 days. My sense is that this is par for the course for the Eastern Shore climate, but if that is a dealbreaker for you, consider elsewhere. Otherwise the unit was totally clean. I would stay here again.

Perfect Spot
The location of this property is fantastic It is on a quiet river with a dock for fishing, a little beach for young children and a beautiful space for kayaking. The house is well equipped and beautifully furnished. The kitchen had every appliance and tool that anyone would need. We ate our dinners on the wraparound porch while enjoying the breezes. There is plenty of space for everyone inside and out. While we spent most mornings at the house, we also took advantage of the opportunities nearby. St. Michael's is only a few miles away for meals out and shopping. Our family particularly enjoyed the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels and ferry trip from Bellevue to Oxford for ice cream. This three generations of family is still talking about how much fun this vacation was and are still recounting memories of the best moments. The owners of this property have made this a really special destination house.

Million dollar view
The view of the water from this historic home is gorgeous. Communication with Lisa was easy and pleasant. Wonderful screened in porch and we made use of the fire pit. Master bedroom is huge. It’s a large historic home—1800s historic—so it has its creaks and quirks. I grew up in an old 1800s Victorian so it didn’t bother me. The layout of the bedrooms is a little awkward, which goes with the age of the house. Kitchen is updated nicely. There were lots of tchotchkes and items detailing the historic aspects of St Michaels. Made it a little nerve wracking for me as my adult son has autism and is a bit of a bull in a china shop. The house was rather dusty and there was more than one cobweb. Kitchen was spotless and well stocked, however. If you want to eat a bushel of crabs, this is the place for you! The porch invites you to sit a good spell. The furniture is well worn and I would suggest a new couch is in order. Easy access to St Michaels and Easton.

St Michaels
If you are looking for a camp like atmosphere this is the place for you. The location is beautiful. The water views are lovely and the small town of St. Michaels is filled with charming little shops and places to eat. The House however is in need of some repair and seems to be maintained on a budget. The grass was not mowed, the landscaping was overgrown, the house exterior was in need of painting . The inside was clean but it also needed some serious attention. We have stayed at several VRBO homes in the past for the same amount of money and our accomendations were far superior. Furniture was worn and dirty, kitchen was nice but the pots and pans were limited and in some cases rusty. There were not enough linens for all of our guests and the dryer was not working properly. We had to tell our guests to bring their own towels. Outside there was no gas grill only an antiquated charcoal grill which was rusted and the legs were falling off. The grill was placed on a sewer cover quite a distance from the kitchen. The logistics of cooking and serving a meal were a bit of a challenge. With some TLC this place could be wonderful. My husband and I were disappointed and will not be staying here again.

Disappointing Property after Rave On Line Reviews
What you should prepare yourself to see at Cranford on Miles: • Upon arrival you will be greeted by the sight of an old golf cart covered by a rotting canvas cover. • The exterior of the home is dirty as if it has not been cleaned in years. • The screen door at the main entrance always hangs open as it does not latch well. • What serves as the 4th bedroom is actually a stairway landing with a twin daybed. There is a folding screen that may be dragged into position to provide 2-3 feet of privacy. • The landscaping is overgrown with vines creeping over decks and other shrubs. The rear porch egress is extremely narrow as the hedges have greatly overgrown the exit sidewalk on both sides. • Cooking a hot breakfast is troublesome as the only non-stick pan is a large skillet that cannot be leveled on the stove due to its dented bottom. • The king bed in the master bedroom has no skirt or cover and shows the exposed box spring at all times. • The wooden steps down the hill to the very small beach area are broken and/or missing. They are practically unusable. Once you get past the disappointment of the property itself, the Miles River view is beautiful.

OK For Adults
The property is beautiful and the house is quaint. Most of you will have a wonderful stay. We really didn’t. If you have young children, you may want to rethink your plans. We spent most of the week keeping personal items of the owners away from our 3 year old son. The window sills were layered with bugs and the screens in such poor shape that we could not open windows, so AC was on all week. The valances to 2 sets of blinds literally fell off, one as I was first opening it and one that we hadn’t ever touched, as we were falling asleep. The refrigerator did not work when we arrived. We used our own cooler for almost 3 full days. The “beach” is tiny, more perfect for a 3-year-old than adults, but we were unable to access it until almost the last day we were there because of a nest of nasty hornets at its entrance. In fairness, Lisa was responsive in working to resolve the issues of the hornets and the fridge. Yet, the interesting part of the story is what happened after we left. We had only been out of the house for a very short time when Lisa called with a very different tone. She was not happy. My husband had taken the spread off a bed we did not use when setting up another room for our son. Lisa accused us of having additional guests based on this “evidence”. Did we rent a 3-BR house, or 2 beds? And, we couldn’t find all the Beanie Babies as we raced to meet the 10 am checkout, but figured the cleaning crew would find them. And, we inadvertently took an umbrella that looked like one that we had brought with us. We buy these umbrellas for $3-5 on the streets of NYC, but offered Lisa $20 off our deposit for our mistake. We never heard from her again or received our security deposit back. Now, we agreed to $20 for a missing umbrella, but no refund of our security deposit and no further explanation? What about the inconveniences that made our stay considerably less than expected? Not to mention, spending a week trying to protect their things from a curious 3-year-old. If they don't want toddlers in the house, then they should say so, but if they’re going to welcome toddlers and the money their parents are paying for the house, then they should adjust the accommodations or their standards accordingly.

Not worth the price at all!
The house was big & the back yard was beautiful, however the long driveway was dark and tree covered resulting in TONS of mosquitoes. The house itself is old so the floor plan was choppy which is especially difficult when traveling with children. Very creaky floors, the entire upstairs had steps up into every room and you had to go through some rooms to get to others. The Den which is also called the 4th bedroom is just a landing at the top of the steps with an old day bed in it. We had to walk past people sleeping every night to get to our bedrooms and again VERY creaky floors. The couches and chairs in the living rooms were not comfortable or inviting. Some of the beds didn't have headboards and were also very creaky beds. The add said there were TVs in every bedroom which is true but the cable wasn't on so you couldn't watch them! Only the living room TV worked. For a rental house there were soooo many glass and antique items which just made us all nervous. The owners were there when we arrived despite the fact that we had the info to get into the property ourselves. We are on vacation. The last thing I need is to feel checked up on or to have to entertain a stranger for an hour (which is how long they stayed)! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the living rooms were large. The back yard was beautiful and the doc was nice for sitting near the water. We couldn't figure out how to get into the water to Kiyak though. The steps were covered by weeds and broken and the only other way in was down the rocks which were covered and I mean covered in these disgusting roach like bugs! So we didn't do anything in the water. We fished every day and didn't have a bite and we tried crabbing and also nothing. But there were sting rays that would swim past the doc and we swore we saw dolphins one night (not sure why any of those animals were in a river though). Just beware the mosquitoes are beyond outrageous here. We were covered in bug spray the entire time and still came home eaten alive. Finally the "refundable" deposit is only partially refunded. They take out almost $90 to cover their costs for processing credit cards which was total bull. I've stayed at many places in St. Michaels, this was by far the most disappointing place. It is close to town and large and well stocked kitchen, but it wasn't worth the awkward sleeping arrangements, uncomfortable living room, creaking floors, owners visiting, breakables everywhere & bugs!

Idyllic
Historic, relaxed, comfortable, and spacious house on gorgeous, expansive waterway. The views from the entire house are beautiful, and the screened wraparound porch is the perfect place to have a meal, or morning coffee, or to sit and relax while enjoying the view. The house has its own pier and sits on a large lot surrounded by trees. St Michaels' restaurants are 3 mi away and the lovely Tilghum Island is half an hour away via a country drive. Just perfect. Lisa was a wonderful and attentive host.

Wedding in St. Michaels
We had the most amazing time at this unique home situated on the Miles River 3 miles from town. Our daughter was getting married at the Inn at Perry Cabin. The house was perfect for a small luncheon for her bridesmaids with a beautiful dining room that easily seats 8 people. There are four air conditioning units keeping the house cool during a very hot period in August. We crabbed off the pier, my husband went kayaking, our two small dogs were welcomed and there was ample room for three couples to stay, the owner was very accommodating for the changes in my schedule since I needed to stay a few extra days and was fortunate to be able to extend last minute. I would definitely recommend to families or several couples who want to have the experience of staying in a historic home on the eastern shore with beautiful water views and privacy with the ability to get into town easily for shopping, dining and water activities.

A little slice of heaven with fabulous, private water frontage and every amenity/comfort imaginable
If we could give this fabulous property 6+ stars we would! It was a real home from home with every amenity and comfort we could possibly want, beautifully clean and will presented, extremely large and private with spectacular views over the Miles River and its own dock. We simply didn't want to leave! We had the best long weekend ever with our family congregating from NJ and GA to attend the wedding of a close family friend. We felt very relaxed and comfortable, the property was very private and we enjoyed every moment! Thank you to our wonderful super host Lisa who made everything so special for us and who was so responsive to the couple of questions we had. This is a real home from home and we loved everything about it and it's location. We would return in a heartbeat and hope to do so again very soon! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

A very special getaway
This house is charming and welcoming from the moment you drive up the long driveway and see the large porches and beautiful bay in the background! My family came for three nights, knowing that if the weather wasn't fantastic we'd want a house we could enjoy spending time in. Cranford did not disappoint!! Much bigger than we expected, the house is well appointed with period furniture and art, but feels incredibly comfortable and homey. Lisa was the most wonderful, gracious host who made herself available and helped us feel welcome without being overbearing at all. We enjoyed the house immensely - from the gorgeous views in the bedrooms (the sunrise over the water is spectacular) to the kayaks my husband took out in the morning. We came with our two kids - 10 mos & 4.5 years - as well as our dog, and everyone was welcome (there was even a fresh bowl of water for our pup and Lisa had messaged that there would be beanie babies for the kids to play with). Highly recommend!!
