We stayed June 8-15, 2014 with a group of 5: a couple, a single dad, and his 18-yr and 15-yr old kids. The property manager did a great job, everything expected of him - no complaints there. The Villa itself is beautiful and for the most part, nicely equipped. Things we loved: Great location, only 5 minutes from a grocery store. The big bay doors and the deck on the upper floor, which let in the breezes. The view from the upper deck was awesome, a full view of Fish Bay. We saw sharks and sea turtles from the deck, as well as iguanas below and in the trees adjacent to the deck. The pool was a great place to float and cool off and have a rum drink - we used it a lot. The bedrooms well-cooled with the individual A/C units, were roomy and the bathrooms were beautiful and well-designed for vacation renters. The supplied beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers were completely adequate for our needs. The supplied washer and dryer worked great and were very handy for allowing us to bring minimal clothing and wash it multiple times while at the Villa. Things we didn't love so much: the entertainment setup in the living room needs a complete upgrade/overhaul. The TV is small and fuzzy, and does not connect to the audio system. The old amplifier, although quality for it's day, does not have a headphone jack input, so there was no way to attach a phone or MP3 player to it. The supplied iPod dock only accepts iPhone4 and older connections. The owner could spend about $2K and get that upgraded to a modern setup and vastly improve the experience. The beds in the lower floor need replacing. They are pushed-together twin beds and they are very poor. One of them slanted to one side. The headboards were not attached and would bang against the wall when you moved in the bed - we just moved them out of the way. The kitchen knives are mostly useless - dull and old. The freezer would not consistently/adequately freeze items. The oven cooked very slowly, and the burners on the top were so weak that we were unable to boil water for pasta. Owner could/should buy new appliances and a good knife set, and it would make the kitchen a lot better. The supplied binoculars were very nice, but small and of weak magnification - a bigger or second set would be helpful. The wi-fi was consistent but slow - maybe spending $100 on a modern router would help. As a summary, we enjoyed our week at Beija Flor, but without the suggested upgrades, we would choose another Villa on a return trip.
