Bad service from rude hotel staff
The hotel staff member, by the name of Anja was rude to me at check-out when I wanted to settle my bill. I simply asked her to check if my room rate was settled or not, as I was not sure if I had paid for the room rate before arrival or not. The bill amount that she quoted was the restaurant bill from the previous night - which I knew we had charged to the room. Anja ignored my request, and insisted on calling the waitor who helped us last night, to confirm with him if the bill was correct. She even insisted that the waitor confirm not only over the phone (speaking in Afrikaans assuming that I don't understand) as well as in-person. The waitor did so but I repeatedly said that I didn't have an issue with the restaurant bill, I wanted to confirm if the room rate was settled. I pleaded for help from Anja's colleague who was standing next to her but she was not willing to assist.

A diamond in the rough
This is a very upmarket 3 star hotel - more like a 4 star hotel. There are a few things which will make it much better: 1)Attention to detail (stains on carpet in bedroom) 2)Restuarant service - waiters need more training - I had to ask for water 3 times before I got it. I will definitely be back - Shelley Point is an undiscovered gem in the Western Cape

This was a great hotel .
Booked this hotel as we had visited about 5years ago and it was lovely. However it has gone down hill rapidly poor facilities, poor food and absolutely nothing to do but walk on the beach. We thought we would play golf but even that was to poor. This hotel has fantastic potential and needs taken on by someone who has the passion to turn it around. Our room was great when we found it . We were disappointed and would not return which is a great shame.

At first disappointing but after discussing my concerns with the GM, Petrus, things were set right and sorted out. Our reservations were addressed and we got the 20th stay complimentary. We stayed there from 15/1/16 - 24/1/16 and we will definitely be back. New friendships have been established with personnel. We arrived as clients but left as family. Our sincere thanks to Alicia, Dorette, Llewellyn, Sheldon and all the others that made our stay a special one

Great but have concerns
This was our return trip. Overall it was lovely, however it was abit strange to see staff hanging around the pool (looks like after their shift) with their friends and children. One group was drinking alcohol and using fowl language. Staff seemed comfortable with this and not shying away from guests. Is this hotel policy? Would have been fine however was worrying concerning the language and possible underage alcohol consumption

Bon Hotel Shelley Point
Okay so this is a strange hotel as the rooms and facilities and quite impressive, but then it fundamentally fails on other levels. The wifi is restricted to 200MB per day and doesn't work well with Mac's as you need to login via a web portal, and overall its slow and fairly useless. Alcohol is expensive (28 rand for a bottle of castle lite) which is a stupid way of not making money. But apart from that its located in a great location with a great 9 hole golf course and 2 nice pools and the food in the restaurants was not too bad either. The staff are fairly friendly and accomodating but not very helpful with things outside their expertise (i.e. wifi). So as long as you cater for the above failings by bringing your own alcohol & wifi data then you'll have an awesome time. Also if you plan to have the buffet breakfast make sure you go early or right at the very end otherwise you'll be waiting 20 mins or more to get your eggs/omelettes/pancakes cooked.

Poor Service yet again :o(
The hotel has so much potential and i'm sure its a daily struggle for management as they clearly cannot get the quality of staff they need as its in quite a remote area. If they just employed 1 person who's sole job was to clean the bird poo, another to clean windows and another to keep the second pool area clean and offer drinks to the guests (that alone would probably cover the wages of the 3 extra staff) it would make a world of difference. Read the reviews and they all say the same thing but nothing seems to be done about it. I want to go back as its such a nice place but the level of frustration I know I will have when im there keeps me away. From frozen tasteless food they serve at the restaurant, to the bar staff that don't have a clue (when you ask for a beer they bring the bottle with no glass and no opener - and they aren't twist tops, what are they thinking, your gonna use your teeth??? This is at the bar and room service. Had to wait nearly an hour for a bottle opener to be brought to the room to open my now warm beer) to no towels from reception it just adds up and by the end of your stay you have had enough!

My children enjoyed it thoroughly, I however was a bit disappointed as I was one adult with two kids under 12, but paid the same rate as a couple with two kids who checked in after me. my children needed swimming towels and I waited 4 hours to get it after requesting from reception. My kids eventually swam and ran to the room without any towels. Our room was only cleaned after 4pm the second day and none of our towels were replaced, we had to use hand towels for the rest of our stay. Room B55 has a leak in the bathroom as the bathroom floor was wet for our entire stay.

Great hotel tucked away within the estate. Located nest to the golf course and easy walking distance to the seashore. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to provide service and help with our baby (providing a cot, sanitizing bottles etc). Affordable dinner menu as well as a tasty breakfast buffet.

Wheelchair accessability???
No assistance with luggage on arrival. Despite discussing that one of us will be in a wheelchair, we were not informed that the breakfast and lunch venue us upstairs and that there is no lift. we paid just over R1700 rand online for our booking and the hotel account when checking out was R1300 and something rand. Wondering why I paid a premium when booking online. was not offered an explanation. The person at front desk seemed confused as to the difference. Will definitely not book online again as I feel that I was overcharged. The staff were very friendly and pleasant.

OUR STAY AT THE BON HOTEL
The aesthetics of the Hotel is picturesque, but something was missing. While the staff was friendly especially Farynn at breakfast serving, there were stains on the seats in the room, crumbs left on the tables in the restaurant, stained coffee cups at breakfast, the toilet holder in the room was broken, guess it was simply that attention to detail. I also think that the hotel was understaffed during breakfast servings. Pity as the Hotel is well placed and a beautiful venue.

We had a very enjoyable stay at you hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast were excellent with a very wide variety of foods to choose from. The kids area made it possible for our daughter to have fun with peers while we got some downtime. Thoroughly enjoyed the hydro experience. We will definately be back soon.
