Welcome to Beck's Cozy Cabin, a modern lakefront retreat perfect for large groups or a couple's getaway, offering space for 16+ guests to relax in comfort.

Located at 7351 Penny Lane, St. Helen, MI, 48656, our handcrafted 3,300 sqft log home invites you to unwind "north of the tension line." Enjoy breathtaking lake views and the warmth of this carefully designed cabin.

Step into the heart of the cabin—The Gathering Room—where soaring knotty pine cathedral ceilings and warm sunlight streaming through large windows create a cozy, yet expansive atmosphere. At the center of the room stands a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling river rock fireplace, perfect for curling up with a good book or enjoying family time by the fire. Surround yourself with plush, overstuffed seating and rustic cabin decor that makes you feel right at home. The large windows offer sweeping views of the surrounding natural beauty, while the open loft and handcrafted log stairwell add to the room’s rustic charm. Whether you're relaxing after a long day or hosting a movie night on the 65" LG OLED 4K TV, this space promises both comfort and style, making it the perfect gathering spot for making lifelong memories.

Flow seamlessly from the warmth of the Gathering Room into the open-concept kitchen and dining area, where rustic charm meets modern convenience. The fully equipped kitchen features a striking stone island, stainless steel appliances, and custom wood cabinetry—perfect for preparing everything from quick snacks to elaborate meals without ever missing out on the action happening in the main living space.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area showcases a beautiful handcrafted log table that comfortably seats eight, offering the perfect spot for family meals or games, all while enjoying views of the trees through large windows. The open layout ensures you can stay part of the fun and conversation, whether you're cooking, dining, or simply soaking in the cozy cabin atmosphere. For larger groups, there are four additional seats at the kitchen counter, and a card table with four more chairs is also available, ensuring everyone has a place to gather and enjoy meals or games together.

For those looking for another cozy hangout, head downstairs to "The Retreat" a perfect mix of relaxation and fun. This spacious, well-decorated area is where friendly competition meets comfort. Challenge family and friends to a game on the air hockey table, or kick back and enjoy a movie or the big game on the enormous 75” 4K TV. Want the ambiance of a fire without the hassle? The electric fireplace offers the warmth and cozy feel of a fire at the touch of a button. Whether you're winding down after a day outdoors or seeking some downtime indoors, this space is a family favorite for casual evenings or late-night fun.

When it’s time to rest, our cabin provides six distinct sleeping areas, designed to ensure comfort and privacy for up to 16 guests. These spaces are thoughtfully distributed across three levels, offering a variety of experiences:

*Three traditional bedrooms: These rooms are ideal for guests who prefer the classic comfort and seclusion of a private bedroom. Each room is tastefully decorated to complement the rustic charm of the cabin, providing a serene retreat at the end of each day. With spacious closets and dressers, you’ll have plenty of room to unpack, settle in, and feel right at home.

*Two flexible spaces with privacy curtains: These rooms feature floor-to-ceiling curtains that can be drawn for privacy at night or left open during the day, offering a cozy and versatile sleeping experience. They are perfect for those who want a balance between openness and seclusion. One room comes with a closet to hang your clothes, while the other features a dresser, offering convenient storage for a longer stay.

*One Loft above the Gathering Room: Overlooking the heart of the cabin, this loft area provides an open and airy sleeping space while still offering a unique sense of privacy. It’s a favorite among kids and those who want to wake up to the inviting smells of breakfast cooking below!

*Bonus 7th sleeping area! For even more flexibility, we offer a double-sized rollaway bed that can be set up wherever you choose. Many guests like to place the rollaway in The Retreat, which also has a floor-to-ceiling curtain, allowing it to transform into a cozy, secluded sleeping area when needed.

Step outside and enjoy the expansive 1,100 sq. ft. wrap-around deck, perfect for soaking in panoramic lake views no matter the weather. Whether you're sipping your morning coffee, cooking a mid-day meal on the gas grill, or stargazing after dark, this spacious deck offers a front-row seat to nature’s beauty. And when it’s time to truly unwind, slip into our brand-new 2024 Grandee 7-person hot tub. Picture yourself relaxing in the soothing water, taking in the peaceful scenery as the sun sets on the lake.

Our lake offers a truly untouched and tranquil experience, ideal for wildlife enthusiasts and avid anglers. While the beachfront is perfect for wading and a splash, it transitions into a marsh-like wetland before the end of the dock. This natural habitat, especially prominent during lower water levels, is home to a variety of fish and attracts a wide array of wildlife. Ducks, loons, and the majestic bald eagle, often perched in the trees near the property or on the nearby state-owned island, add to the magical experience of staying here. Nature lovers will revel in the opportunity for peaceful wildlife spotting, right from the bench on dock.

For the more adventurous, your stay includes access to a full suite of watercraft! Explore the lake by canoe, kayak over to the island, challenge yourself on one of the paddleboards, or enjoy a leisurely trip in the paddle boat. Rather not row yourself? The aluminum row boat with an 8 HP 4-stroke Yamaha motor is ready for fishing or just cruising the serene waters.

If you’re in the mood for a traditional beach day, Higgins Lake’s crystal-clear waters, consistently rated as one of Michigan's most beautiful beaches, are just a short drive away.

Whether you're enjoying a lakeside campfire, curling up by the fireplace, or watching a movie on one of the four 4K televisions, there’s something for everyone.

Please note, for summer stays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, we require a minimum of seven-night bookings, with Saturday-to-Saturday stays recommended to avoid weekend traffic.

Dogs are allowed for a fee. We can not accommodate cats or other pets.

Inside and out, Beck’s Cozy Cabin is the perfect destination for a memorable getaway, no matter the season.

Great cabin and lake. Hot tub was awesome at dusk. Kids had a great time playing outside as weather was very warm and dry. Lake levels were down but we used the canoe and small boat every day. Over all great place for a large crowd! Plenty of room inside and out!

Amazing Birthday Celebration
The house was fantastic. Perfect Up North vibe. It was clean and well cared for. The property was well maintained and were very happy about the lack of mosquitos. A perfect firepit provided many great nights. There were extra cots to help sleep more people. The pontoon was so worth the extra cost. Be careful though, lake levels were low! Overall we couldnt have asked for a better property and property owners. Very communicative and accommodating! Thanks so much! We plan on returning!

One Last Summer Hurrah!
We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at Joe and Elizabeth's cabin! My only complaint is that I wish it would've been twice as long. Mother nature didn't cooperate for a large chunk of the weekend, but when it was cool and rainy we just relaxed and had family bonding time in the cozy cabin, cooking and eating in the well-stocked kitchen, watching both the Detroit Tigers and Lions on TV, playing games, listening to music, etc. The decor is so cute and clever, and everything is exceptionally neat, clean, and organized. When the weather cooperated, we enjoyed cruising around on the pontoon, fishing, kayaking and enjoying wildlife (Loons! Bald eagles! Beavers!) Additionally we did some off-roading, walking, and jet skiing over on Clear Lake, and made trips into town for pizza and groceries ( the calories didn't count because we got in so much exercise, haha!) .Joe was so pleasant to work with always answer questions in a timely fashion. We'd highly recommend this awesome property! Thanks again! Tom and Michelle Grandma Judy Uncle Paul and Aunt Cheryl, Aunt Janice and kids!

Relaxed Environment and Great Cabin
The cabin was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. The yard was plenty big enough for games and the addition of canoes, paddle boards, and small boat allowed for everyone to enjoy lake. The area was very quiet and the lake was never crowded. The Fishing in the lake was great and caught about 40 Bass, 3 Pike, 2 Crappie, and 2 big Sunfish. The fish are active and get very little fishing pressure. Since the lake was super weedy and shallow (not over 4 feet) the fish have plenty of places to hide and attack bait. The lake bottom is silt/weeds so swimming was not ideal. We went to Higgins Lake with our large boat and it is busy but gorgeous. Be careful there around the Island since it drops to 1 foot with rocks and will destroy your prop! We ended up on location most of the time and did a lot of fishing. It really is a solid fishing lake despite my original concern with lack of depth. The cabin was decorated wonderfully. Just tons of great cool items and there was plenty of room for 12 quests. It is a great property and the cabin was a high quality build and everything was super clean. If you want to relax and not be on a busy lake and watch Eagles grab fish out of the Lake this is your place. Great views and we also loved the upper deck overlooking the lake.

Spacious, quiet cabin on beautiful lake
This “lakefront log cabin” was a charming and comfortable retreat. We stayed with our son and his wife and 4 children, including rambunctious boys and a teenager, and we all enjoyed it. There was enough room that we could have quiet time upstairs while the boys played downstairs. And there were enough beds for all of us with some left over! The dock area wasn’t great for swimming, but we rented the pontoon, and the kids spent hours jumping into the lake and swimming from that. We also brought our 2 dogs and were glad there was a roomy fenced dog run they could safely “do their business” in without us having to walk them on a leash until they were ready. Sitting on the wraparound deck listening to the eerie sound of the loons was most relaxing for us slower folks, and lots of outdoor games and nice areas to play them in was great for the more active ones. We highly recommend it!

Log Cabin on Lake
The large log cabin home is located on a small lake southeast of Houghton Lake. It's in an area of nice homes located along the west side of East Twin Lake. The road is paved where the homes are, but are gravel getting to the area. We enjoyed watching the sunrises from the main deck and liked the Michigan shaped adirondack chairs. The home has a large open living room with fireplace, a well stocked kitchen, bathrooms on all three levels, and ample sleeping accommodations, many with views of the lake. There is a private bedroom on the main floor and in the upper loft area. The other beds are located in the loft area and in the lower level and are semi-private. The beds we slept in were comfortable. The main level opens to the driveway/street side of the home and the lower level opens to the fire pit and lake side of the home. The grounds are well kept and there is plenty of firewood for the fireplace and firepit. The water along the shoreline was full of vegetation, perhaps just the time of year. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great cabin!
We loved the cabin and the “up north” decor. Unfortunately our weather wasn’t great, but we made the best of it. When the sun finally came out we went to nearby Higgins lake. The beach at the cabin is not really that great for swimming, kids love to swim. Our golfers loved the area and played the nearby Dreams and Nightmare courses. We may return for a fall or winter trip.

Perfect Family Vacation Place
Viewed this home on VRBO and booked our family vacation right away. The owners communicated with me from the very beginning, all the way through the end of our stay. Their home is just as described and we had a wonderful time! Rented their pontoon boat for a couple of days, took out their canoe and paddle boat several times, as well. The lake access isn’t ideal for swimming because of the shallow depth and lily pads but we were able to swim from the pontoon in deeper water. The house inside is beautiful and so roomy. We had dinner several times on the outside deck and loved sitting at the fire pit near the water. We had a baby with us and he slept very well here. A few people went out on an ATV excursion and had a blast! You will not regret staying at this home and we all look forward to doing it again!

Absolutely tranquil & peaceful, saw all of the nature: bullfrogs, toads, loon, blue heron, osprey, fish, salamander, red headed woodpeckers and their babies, dragonfly's etc. Had the best time cooking and grilling meals together and just relaxing and splashing in the lake. Clean everything you could need! Our second time just as great if not better than the first! Lovely owners.

Penny Lane Cabin
This was the second time we were lucky enough to stay at this cabin. The vaulted ceilings, log cabin ambience, and stone fireplace provided a comfortable gathering place for our group of eight adults. Even though the October weather turned cold and rainy the large windows and ample deck space provided plenty of space for our group to interact without feeling cramped. We enjoyed family style dinners and breakfast meals at the large table. The scenery is beautiful and we took walks on the nearby trails. The owner was extra responsive to our questions. He was easy to work with and I found his business attitude and personal integrety refreshing.
