Charming coastal cottage that offers a short walk to the beach and bay. Located on a secluded corner lot that offers a large outdoor living space and lots of privacy.

Our new kitchen offers stylish granite countertops, white cabinets, and new appliances.

The kitchen, living room, and sunroom are all open to each other and offer views of the two decks and the lush vegetation.

Two bedrooms and one bath. Perfect for a small family! Our laundry room includes a washer and dryer and has a separate entrance.

You will have an outdoor shower, plenty of deck space, and shady spaces for your faces!

This is a single story house that offers a handicapped ramp.

We love your 4-legged children and small pets are welcome.

This is the best bargain on the island!

In the event that you need to cancel, we provide a full refund 60 days or more prior to arrival. Within 60 days there is no refund.

*We strongly recommend the purchase of trip insurance with trip interruption rider when booking this reservation.

There are three exterior security cameras on the property. If the cameras are removed or tampered with during the renters stay, a $500 fee will be assessed. All cameras are disabled upon arrival of guests.

Perfect for our family getaway

We celebrated my husbands birthday with our two small children. This was the perfect location and size for what we needed. The master bed is especially comfortable! Cute place to stay.

Cute Cottage

We were so happy with how close we were to the beach . We also appreciated the beach wagon which made going to and from the beach much easier . Loved the decor , comfortable beds and the best air conditioning units in each room!!

Natural beauty

Great place nestled in some beautiful coastal scrub, very private and quiet. Short walk to beach. We rented a golf cart which was fun and a great way to check out the environs. Very clean and all the amenities were there. Loved the place and was a perfect place for our four.

My husband and I came down to celebrate his birthday. The owner is always easy to work with and papa shack has everything you need. Cozy and the beds are so comfortable. Allowed our dog to come and its very private. Close to beach and bay. 2nd time to rent papa shack And we will be back.

First time stay and loved it! I have vacationed at the island for 12 years. This year, I needed something all on one level for my senior dog. Papa Shack was perfect! Cozy, comfortable and I loved the naturally enclosed yard. It was like my own private oasis. Nicely equipped and furnished. Will be back!!

Restful Retreat

We had a great stay here during our visit to SGI. The house is private, tucked away in the trees and a very short walk to the beach. It’s a great place to just relax and rest in peace and quiet. We went for walks on the beach and also visited nearby Apalachicola, which offers downtown shopping and restaurants. The Piggly Wiggly on the island has basic necessities and a great meat counter for steaks and some seafood. We had a great time and would love to come back!

Loved Papa Shack

We really enjoyed staying at Papa Shack for our vacation. It’s so cute! It was just a short walk to the beach, and near where the rest of our family was staying. We loved the privacy of the yard. The check in and out process was easy. We had everything we needed. Our only suggestion would be for the cleaning crew to be a little more thorough. We would love to stay here again.

Exceeded Expectations

After 21 years of visiting the entire Gulf Coast, Papa Shack on SGI is now a new favorite. Clean, convenient, tastefully decorated, comfortable… The walk to the beach took less than 3 minutes with a loaded beach wagon (provided), and the surprisingly large, private yard gave the property a cozy, old-Florida feel in the evenings that made the cottage itself as much a part of the vacation as the ocean (yard lights a nice touch). Restaurants just a short drive down the road. Check-in was convenient, and Dawn was a great host. We will be back for sure!

Fantastic

I cannot say enough about this property. It is a perfect hideaway near the beach. Lots of privacy! The beds were comfortable. Very clean. The fire pit was a really nice festure and used every night as it was cool in the evenings. The beach is a close walk but we did rent a golf cart and it was fun. The house gives you the old beach bungalow vibe with modern amenities. Did not want to leave! Highly recommend this property!!

Great Dog Friendly Beach Trip

The house was clean. Beds were very comfortable. Nice location which also provided privacy. It was our first time to St. George Island. Being such a dog friendly Island was very fun! Only place I know where dogs were allowed on the beach and all were well behaved. The beaches were beautiful. My dog Ginger loved her first beach experience. Larry, Ginger, and I are going back in June. Yea! The property manager was extra nice and accommodating. Thank you!

Perfect escape

Took a short beach break with my two teen daughters. Right when we pulled into the driveway we knew it was going to be a perfect, its like having your own section of the island away from all the noise, neighbors are close but you can’t see them through the growth. Inside is remodeled and well decorated, provisioned. Kitchen is modern, sitting room is peaceful and bedrooms are perfect, my daughters picked the queen size room just for the cute furnishings even though I offered them the larger king room. AC in each room is fantastic. Very short direct walk to the beach, great spot away from the crowds. Would highly recommend to couples or small families looking to get away from the crowds.

Sweet beach cottage

What a cute little cottage in a nice, quiet neighborhood! The location was good, just a couple blocks (5 minutes walk) to the bay for sunsets or kayaking and same quick walk to the beach public access boardwalk. The cottage feels private, surrounded by trees and has a cute yard with trees. The home itself has two small bedrooms and one small bathroom. I think it’s suited best for one couple’s getaway or two friends staying together. Otherwise it may be tight quarters with the one tiny bathroom. It’s an older house, but the kitchen and floors are updated. The kitchen was a bit dirty on our arrival, so I cleaned surfaces and swept up myself. Overall, we loved the place and did not want to leave! We’d love to stay again.

Mommy and daughter spring break getaway

This is my daughter and I second year vacation at St. George Island. The papa shack was super cute and the exact size we needed for my daughter and I and our two little dogs. We had tons of privacy to make it feel like our own and it was just a quick walk to the beach. It was a ways down from the main portion of the island so if you wanted to go there, you needed to drive, but it wasn’t far at all. All the people on St. George are so friendly. The check-in process was seamless and the checkout process was super easy. I wish the weather was more cooperative, but a cold front was coming in, but definitely cannot control that. If it was warmer, we would’ve taken advantage of the outside a little more because it is so Covered I think we could’ve truly enjoyed the little lights outside more. Super cute would like to stay again.

Awesome beach, relaxing town, great for dogs

We had a blast. Relaxing stay. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON GETTING THERE. A quick jog right and then left opens up the driveway on Pine st. You are moments from the beach and its a straight shot. Wagon in the washroom is a nice touch. To hot to enjoy the fire pit for us, the private feel the location is nice. House was clean. It was two of us and a doggy. No issues, plenty of space, and really enjoyed the boardgames. Nice touch. Bed is comfy and clean. I like having a king...so that was good. A/C's worked good. Paddy's great food and fun, BJ's chicken bacon pizza AMAZING. Take a short ride to Apalachicola its a few minutes away and a fun day of shopping, eating, looking at historical buildings. We will be back.

St. George island home

We came to St. George island in June to meet with some friends and clients. We flew into Destin airport via allegiant airline. It was a drive, but worth it. The island and beach are beautiful and the house is a very short walk to beach. The state park has a beautiful beach and is a short drive. The house is fairly private, with trees and shrubbery planted around it. There is an outdoor washing station for hosing sand off. I found the house to be sufficient for our needs. It was clean and had the basics. There were some beach items in the laundry room, we only used the chairs and buckets. We couldn’t find any beach towels in the house. We purchased food at the small grocery store, for cooking and grilling back at the residence. Unfortunately the outdoor grill was out of propane and we found the kitchen to not have any staples like ketchup, mustard or baggies. It did have kitchen utensils and a few spices. There was some kind of vrbo glitch that stated the house was not available, after I had reserved it. The host responded immediately after I inquired with her. Check in was easy and the code worked seamlessly. Thank you for our stay.

Love staying at Papa Shack. It is close to everything but you feel like you are all by yourself. Very private. Has everything you need and it has direct tv so you don’t have to stream everything. This is our 3rd time there. We will be back.

Perfect little cottage for us; 2 bedroom 1 bath just short 4-5 min walk to the beach. They have a nice wagon and beach umbrella along with fishing supplies, a board and even water guns! Home kitchen nicely supplies with dishes and cookware. Outside has plenty of room for parking nice area to sit. This was our first time on St George and we plan to come back and book again at Papa Shack.
