Summary:
This gorgeous boatshed has it all: wonderful sea views, stylish interiors and a prime location. You're nestled away in a private corner of a garden, within walking distance of Gorran Haven Beach with the beautiful south coast of Cornwall right on your doorstep.
The Space:
Inside, the single-level boatshed has been finished to a high standard. Find a modern kitchen with ample mod cons, including: a hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster and cooking utensils. Floor to ceiling windows open out onto a terrace, where you can enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine at sunset! Two armchairs are placed so you can watch something on the TV - there's Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime and more (own logins required). The real highlight, though, is the placement of the pull down king-size bed. Wake up to views of the sea directly ahead or fall asleep under a blanket of stars visible through the Velux above. Find plenty of storage space where you can unpack your clothes as well as a well-maintained en suite with a shower next door. This is the perfect bolthole for a well-earnt break by the coast! Free private parking for one vehicle.
Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the boatshed.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is perfectly situated to explore the best of South Cornwall. You're just a two-minute walk from the quaint harbour of Gorran Haven, where there is a sandy beach and a wall for fishing off - or for jumping at high tide! At low tide, you can walk round to Little Perhaver beach, a beautiful, secluded cove perfect for rock pooling. The waters at both beaches are normally very calm and safe for swimming. This also makes perfect conditions for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, which you can hire from the beach.
There is also a fish and chips shop, a local bakery and shop as well as a beach hut serving food. Although there is no pub in the village itself, Cakebreads has a covered outdoor bar selling fresh local ale or lager and a variety of cocktails in the summer and also serves tasty breakfasts and lunches. And if it’s a traditional local pub you’re after, head to the Barley Sheaf just up the road in Gorran Churchtown. In the Summer you can enjoy a large beer garden and there is also a fantastic restaurant, run by renowned chef Tim Kendall. The Llawnroc Hotel is also a lovely spot for food and cream teas!
For the hikers, there are stunning coastal paths traversing most of the South Cornwall coast line. The property is on the South West Coast Path (a 630 mile adventure around the coastline of England’s South West peninsula), our favourite of which is the walk to the historic Dodman's Point. On the way you will pass Vault Beach - one of Cornwall's best kept secrets! This mile long stretch of white sand is the perfect escape from the summer crowds. Other great local beaches include Caerhays beach and castle and the quieter Hemmick. Both can be reached via coastal paths if you are feeling adventurous. In the other direction, you can take a beautiful walk to the next fishing village, Portmelon, where you can enjoy a pint and chips on the water front.
For those with transport, the larger fishing village of Mevagissey is well worth a visit. Here you can find ample gift shops with local crafts and produce, pubs serving real ale and lots of great cafes, takeaways and restaurants. Other notable local activities include the stunning Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall we would highly recommend bringing a car to make the most of your time here. There is free private parking on the drive for one vehicle. If you require additional parking, the local car park is only 5 minutes walk and is quite reasonable. A 24 hour ticket costs £6 (shorter stays also available), and 7 days costs £35. In low season, parking on the road opposite the village shops is also free and unrestricted. There is also free parking available on the outskirts of town all year round.
Other Things to Note:
Please note, the boatshed shares some areas with another property, the cottage. The shared areas are the outdoor utility room and bin store which are located in between the two properties. Both the cottage and the boatshed have private entrances and garden areas - though they are not fenced off. For those interested, both properties are also bookable together. Just get in touch if this is of interest!
The boatshed is suitable for immobile infants, however the decking is dangerous for mobile infants so they regrettably are not allowed.
