The cottage offers privacy when dining al-fresco on the patio plus spacious accommodation for six plus a cot with three bedrooms (two doubles, one twin) and a large family bathroom. The lounge-dining room has a huge original stone fireplace with an efficient wood-burning stove. Furnishings are modern yet invitingly comfy.
The cottage looks onto a peaceful,pretty lawned garden with rose bushes,edged by mature trees and shrubs with a natural granite slabbed patio area that faces south,enjoying direct sunlight all day long.Both front and rear gardens are private and fully enclosed by walls,fences and natural hedges. A wealth of mature plants and flowering shrubs (camellias, rhododendrons etc.) surround the property.There is ample parking at the front for several cars.
Just a short stroll along the lane is the village pub.The Polgooth Inn serves great local beers and food prepared using locally sourced produce.It`s a proper family-run place that welcomes children and animals and serves food all day both in the pub as well as the garden.There are more excellent pubs and restaurants within easy reach of Brookside, including Austells (3 mls.) and Kingswood (0.5 mls.)
There is a village shop/off-licence/post office, while larger supermarkets are within a mile or so.
Polgooth is perfect for exploring Cornwall due to its central location. The Pentewan valley which Polgooth borders is great for walking or cycling the dedicated trails leading to the coastal villages of Porthpean (fabulous safe family beach, sailing, watersports), Pentewan ( large beach plus watersports, gymnasium, restaurants), Mevagissey (ancient working fishing port, restaurants, shops) and Gorran Haven (sandy beaches,walks, great pub, coastal walks). Other local attractions include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and the beautiful harbour village of Charlestown with its wonderful pub, restaurants and shops.
St.Austell golf club is on the edge of the village and Carlyon Bay golf club is just 3 miles away.
There is a convenient rail link at St.Austell (2 mls.) which is on the main London-Penzance route.
