Water's Edge at Cortez is located in the exclusive Cortez community. Cortez is located in the well sought after neighborhood of Davis Shores, the first section of the island that was settled. Rich in history and surrounded by the river, ocean, and bay, the views are outstanding, breezes bountiful, parks and historic sites plentiful. Cortez is located steps from the well-known Conch house marina which has a restaurant, docks, boat rentals & fuel, and several cocktail bars. The restaurant offers tiki style huts which are fun to dine in as they sit out above the water offering fabulous views.
The Cortez community is a quick walk to historic downtown where you will cross the famous Bridge of Lions and find yourself transported back in time to days of old with horse and buggies on cobblestone streets and beautiful ancient architecture. The city is well preserved and there are a plethora of shops and restaurants to enjoy there. Art lovers will enjoy all of the amazing galleries with a wonderful mix of local artisans and world-famous artists.
Back on the island you are walking distance to the old lighthouse which still shines today. Take a big breath and walk up to the top. It is a bit of a climb, however the views are well worth the effort. The 360 views will astound you and absolutely take your breath away!
You have a selection of beaches to enjoy. From Cortez, the state park beach will be the closest. There is a small fee to enter, however you will find restrooms, a restaurant and other options such as sunfish and kayaks to rent. No dogs allowed on this beach. Next is Anastasia Island beach with volleyball courts and a water play section for small children. This is right next to the pier which is great for just walking or fishing. There is a small fee for the pier, but all the rest is free. There is also parking there, save for Wednesday mornings when there is a fun Farmer's Market to enjoy. Many restaurants and ice cream shops are all within walking distance of here. There are many other quiet beaches such as Butler and Crescent to the south and Vilano to the north.
Anastasia Blvd runs north and south and is just a couple of blocks from your Cortez location. There you will find many great restaurants, mini golf, shops and more. A little further south you will see the Alligator Farm which is fun and interesting for all ages. This is also a nice walk from Cortez. The Alligator Farm now also has birds, snakes, and many other creatures which entertain you at show times daily. There is also a zip line and climbing course. So much to do and enjoy!
The Amphitheater is also walking distance and check the schedule as there are always many great venues there all year round. Saturday mornings there is the large Farmers Market with food and music.
