This is a fun first floor apartment that has been completely renovated. There's a very comfortable queen size bed with a newly renovated bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots and pans you need to cook. The space has the old pine floors in it, which gives it part of the old home feel, and a beautiful (non-functioning) fireplace. Our guests love this home. and we hope you will too. it's a separate one bedroom, separate kitchen, with a combo living room/dining room.
********** We actively encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance.
We will only refund the booking for a hurricane threat if an evacuation is ordered in the area by the State of Florida. We experience threats nearly every other week during hurricane season, that rarely amount to anything.
Your apartment is completely independent, it's just the shared main entrance which provides access to four units (two upstairs and two downstairs). There's no in-home washer/dryer, but you have use of the two outside washers and dryers, soap included. The back yard is terrific, along with your private small deck with two chairs. The shared space has picnic tables, charcoal bbq grills and additional seating. There's lighting in the back yard as well. You have a back door that opens directly to the back yard and the shared space. The bicycles are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We have a wonderful property manager who is available to answer any questions or provide any missing things. Can't find a corkscrew? Missing facecloths? They're all supposed to be there - just ask and if it's anything we can provide, we will. We want all of our guests to have a five star experience and it all starts by communication! We're also fully available by email or text. It's just that we're traveling too, so it's best to contact the property manager first. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance in case your plans change.
This is an interesting neighborhood. Located right across the street from Ketterlinus Elementary school, you definitely hear the sound of children playing during recess time, but it means it's pretty quiet at night. There's not a lot of street noise and there's typically street parking available.
It's fun to sit outside on weekend nights and hear the music from downtown, but you don't hear it in the house.
We're in a neighborhood called Flagler's Model Land. Most of the houses in the neighborhood were built in the 1800's and some are very charming. Most of the area was originally owned by Henry Flagler, who played an important part of the growth of St. Augustine. Flagler College is also just a couple of blocks away.
We're a few minute walk to The Barley Republic, if you're looking for a drink. The food at The Barley Republic is very Irish and very tasty. There's a number of other restaurants and bars within a few minutes too. St. Augustine is a great city to explore with great food, great cocktails and interesting historical sites. Don't miss The Fountain of Youth (wear bug spray).
We are less than two blocks from a trolley stop next to the Wax Museum, which most visitors to St. Augustine like to use to explore the city.
You are always welcome to park on the street in front of the house if there is room. If there's no parking, you also will have ONE assigned spot behind the property. Directions to the parking will be provided with your check-in instructions.
If you have a second car, or a large car or truck, we do have overflow parking for possibly one extra car on a first come, first serve basis. Parking permit is required. Our assigned parking will not accommodate large vehicles. The parking garage is about a three minute walk away.
For longer trips around, Uber, taxis and pedicabs are readily available.
The sofa bed is in the living room. You need to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom - just so you know about the privacy issue! There are games and books in the front hallway bookshelf for those rainy day activities. This is an old house, so you may hear some noise. Events and parties are not allowed as a result. We allow dogs in the property, which you need to know if you have severe allergies.
