"The Emerald is a beautiful, homey place and I enjoy stopping there on my frequent trips. It's affordable, and simple (no extra accessories), but I am good with that. Always very clean. They are very convenient coming from the airport on the hourly shuttle service. Being a single lady traveling alone, I would appreciate it if the door were a little stronger (no loose door knob, a sturdier lock, etc.) just for securit's sake, but otherwise I am happy with the property and services. "Horrible service. We were 2 couples that paid a week in advance through Hotels.com, confirmation was emailed and I phoned 3 times to confirm because we were going to arrive a bit earlier because we have a wedding close by. When we arrived they did not want to give us our room keys because they said they did not receive payment. We spoke to the 2 girls working there, which was very unproffesional eating chips and handling our phones without any sanitation etc, we showed them proof of payment,...

"I liked the friendly and helpful staff, nice furnishings in the apartments and adequately stocked with all the necessities for such accommodation! The bed was comfortable with very nice bed linen! Like the proximity to Sandton City and Mandela Sq! All in all I thought the Raphael was very good value for money! I did not like the view from my room.. faced the wall (but at least it wasn’t concrete and plain, but would have preferred a city view! "

"A great place to stay near the airport if you're connecting to another flight the next day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area and your desired needs. The breakfast was wonderful and was prepared with care. Thank you and will stay here again and recommend the hotel. The grounds are also fantastic and pleasant to the eyes. "

"The Parkwood has an excellent location close to Rosebank. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our hotel room was large with a big bathroom and dressing area and a sitting area. The dining area and indoor/outdoor seating were very inviting. "

"This was our final night in Joburg and it was the best night. We stayed in the Villa, which was gorgeous. The restaurant was also amazing. We will definitely be back!!"

"I think it's important to know this is someone's house with a few hotel rooms upstairs. There are some less-than-ideal aspects. The place is very echoey, so if the owners are entertaining downstairs you will hear it in your room. The lighting is very harsh, bright white, which is a big no for me personally. And the bathroom/shower has frosted glass walls that lead on to the hallway. No one can really see you but it doesn't feel that comfortable. Just some strange design choices. The owner couple...

"Airport Tower Lodge was the perfect stay for our overnight before our next flights. The beds were extremely comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. The property is beautiful, we loved all the details and the spaciousness. They even had a well stocked honesty bar that was very convenient as we didn't have a car. The transfers both from and to the airport were seamless. "

"Not so good as they didn't even accommodate us. They indicated that they don't use Hotels for bookings. I stated arguing even after showing them proof of payment they just refused to accommodate us. I will appreciate to be refunded as I experienced such experience for the first time in my life. "

"Very safe place to stay in Sandton. It's a short walk to the shops, Nelson Mandela square and good restaurants. The pool is tiny but still good in the heat. The coffee spot in reception was great. It's great for young people but not really designed for young families. "

Amazing place with beautiful people.

"The staff is the heart of the hotel. Each one of them were amazing. To name a few, Zama, Miriam, Ivy, xolani, Jimmy, the two Thomas, Justice, Zoe, Kenny, and the rest became like family to me. The staff at Perere, at the Club House and at the Cafeteria made me feel special. The housekeeping personnel was also exceptional. I felt comfortable leaving my personal items out when they were cleaning. They didn't steal anything. The hotel has almost everything to make your enjoyable in every aspect. It has a business center, Barber shop, a grocery store and much more. The only issue I have with the hotel owners and management are the low wages they pay their staff. For such a high standard hotel and highly qualified staff that give exceptional services, the wage is not at par with the quality of services offered."

Great choice for airport stay.

"Large room, comfortable bed, good lighting. Evening buffet is excellent as is breakfast. Nice little outdoor pool. Hotel has a nice ambience. In places a little tired and dated, especially the bathroom. Was good value, and proximity to airport and free shuttle make it an excellent choice. "

"Great facility, friendly staff and delicious food. We were able to catch the hop on hop off bus just around the corner and access lots of sights that way. The hotel offers a shuttle service to Nelson Mandela Square, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommended this stay. "

Outstanding staff

"Very happy with choice of hotel for first stay in johannnesburg. Food excellent. Pool was closed for one afternoon during our stay but staff arranged and took us to a neighbouring hotel to use their’s. Reinforced how good the pool area was in our hotel. Punctual shuttle to Sandton city. Hotel also on free shuttle stop for hop on/off bus "
