its a really nice cabin, really quite all around. warm and big. One of the shower handles came off when showering (loose screws)but it was no problem i had my tool bag and fixed it right away.
Loved staying in this cabin for a couple nights. The wood burning stove was very nice. Plenty of space for the 5 of us who stayed. There are some nice nearby trails to hike on as well.
We spent a week up at this beautiful cabin. Originally we had planned to go to Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks, but decided that a 2.5 to 3 hr drive each way was a bit far. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area. Don't miss the Trail of 100 Giants! It was the Sequoia experience without the crowds. The owner was very quick to respond to questions and other needs. We loved it up here and would come stay again!
Enjoyed a quiet getaway in the middle of my kids spring break. We went in the middle of the week so the local restaurant wasn’t open so came prepared with groceries to make all meals on our own - fun family time in the kitchen! Brought games for more family time inside. Kids enjoyed playing in the snow and on rocks (mini-bouldering) outside. Good place for quiet, solitude, and to be free of distractions.
My family and I had a great stay at the Split-Rock cabin. There was plenty of space and beds for all 7 of us. The Kitchen was fully stocked and has everything you can think of. Plenty of wood to keep you nice and toasty with the wood burning stove that kept the whole cabin warm. The view and neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. Surprised to see a cute little Christmas tree in the living room, nice touch! The cabin was very clean and adorable! We would definitely stay here again!
I discovered the town of Ponderosa while working up in the local area rebuilding some of the power lines. I was very lucky to find this cabin and other ones there to enjoy my stay after working long hours. The cabin has great big trees surrounding it and sound of water flowing. I was most excited about the wood burning stove and wifi that works better than my house back home in a big city. I will look forward to bringing my family back to Ponderosa in the near future. Thanks again!
We drove up from Orange County for the weekend for a much needed unplug from our usual routine. Our family of four plus two dogs felt right at home at this cozy cabin. It had everything we needed, plenty of kitchen cooking/dishes/and extras, as well as comfortable towels sheets and blankets. The cozy wood stove heated the whole house quickly and easily, we brought a few of our own, but Splitrock also had fun board and card games to play. The neighborhood of Ponderosa is quite and secluded making the evenings cooking and looking up at the expansive night sky extremely enjoyable. Drinking coffee on the deck listening to the creek flow through the back yard was my favorite part. The ponderosa lodge burnt down in March so there aren’t any restaurants nearby. Both roads to get there right now (Nov 2023) are “closed” from recent mudslides, but the construction crew will let you through one lane if you let them know you’re headed up to ponderosa. I’m sure this will improve with time. Make sure you have a full tank of gas and all the groceries you need before heading up the hill because it’s a long winding road back down.
We really loved staying at this cabin and can’t wait to return to enjoy more hiking and exploring in the summer. Thanks for hosting us!!!
