The home is¬ built in the style of the old Texas German settlers’ “dog-trot” log cabins and barns, with a central breezeway. Two downstairs bedrooms (sleeping 4 total), each have a bathroom. One large bunk room upstairs (sleeping 6) also has a 3-piece bathroom. The kitchen has all cooking and serving ware needed. Local Texas wine and a welcome basket is included for those who book 3 nights or more.
Game room across breezeway with billiards, game table, board games, poker set and shuffleboard. Outside activities include basketball, ping pong, corn-hole and swimming. Fire Pit with cooking grill and gas grill included. Family living at its best!
Home sits 1/4 mile off a one-lane, quiet county road good for cycling, running, or just leisurely strolls. Round swimming pool that looks like a livestock tank, along with an old cabin rebuilt as a pool house, and a working windmill and water feature, all come together to add to the charm of the property.
Situated on secluded acreage, yet only 30 minutes to northern edge of San Antonio, this home provides privacy, backing up to a 3000-acre ranch and no neighbors around. Sit on the back porch facing the ranch with your coffee in the morning or wine in the evening and enjoy the solitude broken only by the grazing cows. Sit by the pool house in the evening and watch the bats (in season) feed on the moths and sweep down to drink from the pool!
Entire house is supplied by filtered and purified rainwater. If you have never bathed or washed your hair in rainwater, you will see softer skin and hair your first day! If you would like to know more about rainwater catchment, we would be glad to give you a tour of our process and equipment.
This ranch supports a cow/calf operation. We can produce natural grass-fed beef on this rather small plot using a technique called Intensive Grazing. We breed British Whites and never have to use antibiotics and rarely must supplement their feed. If you would like to know more about Intensive Grazing and how we have improved our grasslands, we would be glad to show you our process.
Owners live on ranch in main house. It was built in the German vernacular architectural style, meaning local traditions and customs were used in its design and construction. A quick tour of the house can be made available.
Please Note: Our two Catahoula ranch dogs roam the 40 acres around the house freely and are great with people.
