Super overnight stay in this charming inn. Immediately felt at home and everyone is so welcoming. Drinks prices are very reasonable and we love the hot pork scratchings on the bar. Plenty of hot water for the bath and the absolute bonus of having the Chinese take away on site, The Water Margin. We will definitely stay again without doubt.
The host was friendly and informative she gave a comprehensive tour and detailed information . Sadly the room was tiny only big enough for a double bed and one chair, no wardrobe or hanging space . I’ve stayed in some small rooms in London ( where space is at a premium ) but this was the smallest double I’ve ever seen . There was no mirror in the room so could not do my hair as the plug was too far away from the bathroom mirror . The springs in the bed were atrocious kept making noise and we couldn’t turn the radiator on . The bathroom was very small . Whilst the shower cubicle was good there was no button on the toilet flusher and the shelf was missing from its brackets which kept falling off . On arrival there were 3 black hairs in the sink . Positives ..tea and coffee making facilities (and extras for refills too )water . However breakfast was extremely disappointing opened supermarket branded packets of pastries, meat, cheese, cerial no attention to presentation at all . It was a real shame as the place has charm and so much potential but just needs a overhaul to get it back to its former Four in a Bed standards …the pub downstairs is lovely .
No staff during majority of stay. No restaurant. Very basic breakfast. Same cheese/meat in fridge for 3 days. No cleaning of room or bed for 3 days. TV bracket broken with TV hanging at an angle downwards. No heating unless requested. Poor electric shower pressure. Water restrictive sink taps impractical. Very noisy when pub full. Disappointing and basic accommodation.
Friendly welcome from Tom
Love the pub, especially sitting in front of the fire.
The only problem was the blind in my room was broken and I couldn’t have a shower as it was scalding hot and I could not cool it down.
I will mention these issues to the manager so they can be fixed for others. It won’t stop me staying again .
Had an amazing stay. Tom , manager, was excellent host. Pub was fantastic find, great setting, fantastic company and memorable evening. Family friendly and comfortable with kids. Great perk of Chinese takeaway on site so ordered from pub and ate on pub site so great symbiotic business!!! Pity we didn't have a chance to explore gorgeous village settings as looked picture postcard perfect.
Fantastic hospitality, great night, easy and convenient and comfortable stay .
Thanks Tom X

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
It was a lovely guest house and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The only critisism would be that during my stay there was some decorating going on directly outside my room window and the shower was scorching hot.
The room was OK. Single room with toilet and a shower. Down side was that it was quite cold in the night and radiator was not working and no additional blanket. Continental breakfast was OK.
