Gorgeous!
This was such a wonderful trip - and the cottage is gorgeous. The window over the bay in the living room was a highlight - better than TV! We had everything we needed, and the cottage was beyond our expectations. We hope to be able to return.

Beautiful setting, lovely cottage
If you want a quiet getaway in the Orkneys, we'd thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage. It's just by the water's edge and has a gorgeous view over the bay. On an evening it's far nicer to watch the sun go down across the water than to watch the TV! We saw a thunderstorm come in one day and were grateful for the metre-thick walls. The house is well equipped; the kitchen and bathroom both work well, and the bed is soft. The house is situated about 20 minutes south of Lerwick in St Margaret's Hope. The village itself is very quiet although there is a (justifiably) popular fish restaurant just 2 minutes down the road form the cottage -- though if you want to eat there, you'd be well advised to book in advance. All in all, a lovely hideaway. Can't recommend it enough.

A perfect spot for location. A side window overlooking the sea, always changing. Excellent taste, beautiful and fun paintings. Very handy for the ferry and a good spot for travelling up to see Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar. Wonderful. Kirkwall is well worth a visit with the Cathedral and the excellent museum. Everything is provided and so comfortable. A big Thank You to Catriona . Caroline .

Great property in a lovely location
The property is a good size for 2 or 3. It's well situated right on the waters edge with a lovely fish restaurant clise by, and it's in a great spot if you're a Northern Lights watcher. The photos on the website don't do it justice - we would definitely go back.

Our stay at 1, The Noust
What a wonderful place, we loved it here. Being able to look out at the sea from the living room, watch the birds and boats drift by was great. A fabulous spot. Plus there’s a pub and great coffee/eating place round the corner. We didn’t want to leave!

Wonderful place to stay
The house is welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. Everything you need for your stay and beautiful art work on the walls. The view from the windows is unique and mesmerising with the changing time of day and light and the tides. You feel the tranquility and beauty of Orkney. The local shop and post office are very useful and there is a local bus stop if you don’t have a car.

Great property, great location. This was by far the best of the three properties we stayed in on this 3 week trip in Orkney and the north West of Scotland. Would definitely stay here again but would give the other two a miss.

Great house in a wonderful location
A very confortable house in a wonderful location. The Noust was very clean and has high quality fittings. It has great views over the bay - we particularly liked sitting in the window seat looking at the sea birds and seals. St Margaret's Hope is a friendly small community with all the facilities you could need.

Superb cottage in fantastic location
This is a really lovely cottage in a brilliant location. Positioned on the edge of the jetty, you can literally swim/canoe/paddle board from 10 metres from the front door. St Margaret's Hope is a village of character and charm with good local shops, places to eat, golf course and the craft co-op shop. Only 10 - 12 mins drive from Kirkwall makes it a convenient location. The cottage is really well presented - good quality furnishings, good size living/dining/kitchen room and good sized bedroom and light and airy - with the living room window perfectly framing the view of the bay. It was spotlessly clean. Everything you could want for a fabulous week (or less/more) on the friendly and wonderful Orkney Isles!
