Truly a beachgoer, fisherman, boater and sportsman haven. Everything nearby to enjoy during your vacation!1 bedroom cottage w/ queen; sunroom w/ trundle daybed (2 twins, recommended for children); detached guest bunk room, full size bed with electricity and AC window unit (high season use only - no heat or water). Fully equipped, eat-in kitchen, washer & dryer, heat, AC units & ceiling fans. Bathroom with shower, toilet & sink. In addition, large deck with propane grill overlooks oversized lot in quaint community of Snug Harbor. Outdoor enclosed hot water shower, lawn games, beach chairs & umbrellas, boogie boards & fire pit. Walking distance to marina, yacht club, marina food & fishing shop and grill, neighborhood food and fresh fish market, right-of-way boat launch, deep-sea fishing charter boats; tennis courts & ball field. 1.5-mile car ride or 1.33 mile walk or easy bike ride to East Matunuck State Beach. Also nearby are Narragansett, Charlestown and Westerly beaches and renowned restaurants, clamming beach, saltwater marshland as well as historic Wakefield, Theatre-By-the-Sea, Narragansett, Block Island Ferry, Newport, Adventure Land, deep-sea fishing charters, kayak and bicycle rental, Ninigret Park, Watch Hill, Misquamicut Beach and paved bike paths. Connecticut casinos and Mystic attractions 45 minutes away. Numerous and a variety of restaurants are nearby including the renowned Matunuck Oyster Bar that is within walking distance. It is highly recommended that a reservation at M.O.B. be made 3 weeks in advance. The cottage is clean, updated and well maintained with coastal decor. Pillows, bed cover, bathmats and blankets are provided. Renter must bring own towels, bed sheets & pillowcases. Inquire about linen & towel rental by contacting the cottage keeper @ (401) 255-3418. Jess will assist you in customizing your towel and linen order. There is a separate charge for towel and linen rental. Basic cleaning products are supplied. Renters responsible for supplying own paper products (bath tissue, paper towels, tissues, etc.), laundry cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products & firewood. Propane is provided by owner for grill. Rental season opens May 17. Check-in time is 3:00 pm; departure time is 11:00 am. Academic-year rentals, limited to 2 tenants considered; contact owner for rates.
Snug Harbor is a small seaside community making it an ideal community for walking, biking, meeting new friends and getting to know life along the shore.

Fabulous
House was perfect for us! Clean, cozy and ac! Nice porch with gas grill and a fire pit! Less than 5 minute drive to the beach and several restaurants. We had a great stay!

Clean cozy cottage by beaches
The cottage is bright, cheery, very clean and welcoming. Barbara was a great host and was quick to respond to any questions we had. We would definitely return to this cottage.

Rainy weekend
This is a very cute home. Teenager loved the detached room. The beach was mesmerizing even with a cold rainy weekend. I want us to come back in summer. Water pressure in shower was really good and welcomed after traveling. I am embarrassed to say we got in very late in the dark and I didn’t look at the house numbers there is a similar colored home across the street. Please check the house number before making the same mistake in the dark. Walmart is close by we were able to go buy towels and snacks. It’s really charming

Snug Harbor cottage
We had a wonderful stay in Snug Harbor at Barbara's cottage. Our family (me and my husband and our 5 and 13 year old sons) and found the cottage was perfect for our needs. Easy access to the beach and nearby Matunuck neighborhood and we enjoyed outings to Newport and Narragansett. Barbara was easy to communicate with!

Just a summer delight
Absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage is so summery and homey. We felt comfortable right away! It made our stay so much more enjoyable! I have always loved this area of RI, but finding the perfect summer place makes it so much better.

Sweet cottage with no frills
The cottage was pleasant but we were surprised and not prepared to find no towels, no sheets, pillowcases, bath soap, shampoo or conditioner. The beds were comfortable, the cottage nicely decorated and the location was really nice. Breakfast down at the marina was delicious and gave you a slice of the local life. Very nice!

Perfect cottage for beach getaway
We stayed here in August 2016 and found the accommodation to suit our family of four perfectly. The cottage is well appointed and the location is amazing. We loved having a deck and made great use of the grill. There's a side yard that's perfect for outside play. The neighbors are very friendly and welcoming too. We spent a day at East Matunuck beach, visited the Mystic aquarium and took the ferry over to Block Island-so much to do in this area. I'd highly recommend a visit. The owner was so responsive and welcoming (both leading up to the visit and during) and we found the accommodation fairly priced.

Wonderful Relaxing Time!
My son and his family joined me and it was wonderful. We played games with them outside on the grass, we never used the pool, but saw one was available. The bathroom as advertised is small, but the outside shower makes up for any issues there! The only thing I may have misunderstood was the proximity to the beach. I thought I could ride the bike to the beach, that was not really possible as it was pretty far away and no sidewalks or bike lanes. But we had a wonderful time with the children. Thank you Barbara and family for allowing us to stay in your family's cottage.

Cute Cottage
We stayed here for a couple of nights and overall it was a 3.5* experience. The cottage is very small and charming. The location is stellar, the beach was just a five minute drive and there were plenty of restaurants within 15 minutes. We missed the part on renting sheets or bringing them which is why I won't ding them on that point, but the top comforters hadn't been washed since the last visit as we found hairs and could tell by their fragrance they didn't smell of laundry soap. There is a Walmart and TJ Maxx within 20 minutes so we made it happen for a small investment and a trip to town. The place would be perfect for two adults and two kids, the third bedroom is actually out in a standalone building which one side is a shed and the second side is a bedroom. There is a window with an AC unit, but it is just a room with a bed, you have to go into the main house to use the bathroom. I wasn't too keen on allowing the kids to stay out there by themselves nor would I have had their grandma stay out there either. Overall, it was good. Gas grill, fully stocked kitchen, I think if we were staying for a week, we could have been cozy and enjoyed the outdoor space, cooked a meal or two, and used the outside deck more. The area was very quiet after 8pm. We loved Skips coffee shop, the desserts at Capt'n Jacks are outrageously good, and we drove to the town beach one day and east beach the other. We preferred Easter which had a lovely surf and a fantastic pavilion.

Well-loved Rental in Excellent Location
We enjoyed our stay in the lovely neighborhood of Snug Harbor! We had amazing weather, and the breezes effectively cooled the little cottage (a heat wave might have been an issue). Thekitchen was well-stocked, and basic cleaning supplies were provided. The check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the house had a thoroughly written welcome book. There were no urgent needs for us to contact the host during our stay, and the house was adequately cleaned. The neighborhood felt quiet and safe, and our kids enjoyed playing in the yard in the evenings. We enjoyed the walk to the marina, and we drove the short 5 minutes to East Matunuck Beach (just more convenient and a little safer with small kids). Although we did not need to contact the host about anything, future improvements might be replacing the one bedroom door, as it cannot shut all the way. The front door also could be a bit finicky with the security lock (not sure if an issue with the security lock or door itself). We were able to lock it, but it needed to be double checked and sometimes took several tries. The outside shower worked excellently, although we did need to use the inside shower on occasions due to weather and it seems that the heating element may need replacing. The separate room/shed combination was not needed by us, but we appreciated the beach chairs and boogie boards that were available inside. Great beach location and quick trips to towns like South Kingstown, Narragansett, and Wickford!

"Our place"
We always have taken our vacations in September, and always someplace near the ocean. When deciding that Rhode Island would be our destination this year, I found this little cottage on VRBO. Our dates were a little unusual, we couldn't travel Sat-Sat. But the owners were able to accommodate us and it was a terrific place. The size is perfect for a couple, even for a small family. My favorite was the outdoor shower! The kitchen amenities were perfect and we have now found the value of having washer/dryer available too! The deck is great, the neighborhood was quiet and tranquil. The location was convenient to the East Matunuck beach and even to other great locations in the area. We have already reserved for next year!

Clean, cozy, great ocean breeze, nice neighborhood
My family of four stayed in this clean and cozy cottage and enjoyed it very much. Although the cottage is small, the layout is very good so it's pleasant. The beds are comfortable. There are plenty of windows for breezes and fans for additional ventilation. A lovely breeze from the ocean can be felt in the house, on the deck, and in the yard. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, eating at the large picnic table, and taking showers in the private outdoor shower. The shrubbery around the deck makes the deck feel private. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. We borrowed beach chairs for our trips to the beach. (Thank you!) Snug Harbor is a quiet, family neighborhood. It's a beautiful walk to the beach. The owner was very friendly and helpful during all communication. I appreciate the owner's willingness to rent the cottage for less than a week. I highly recommend this cottage.

Base of Operations for Weekend
We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights during the University of Rhode Island commencement weekend. Because we were involved with ceremonies and celebrations, we only used the cottage for sleeping and getting ready for each day's activities. Communication with Barbara before and during our visit was great, and the driving directions were perfect as were the arrival and departure instructions. The cottage was clean upon arrival, and we found the few items we needed with ease. As instructed we brought along our own bed and bath linens. Bed pillows were provided but finicky sleepers may want to bring their own pillows. The main cottage's queen bed seemed more like a double to us, and it's a mattress over a metal box spring frame which we didn't find very comfortable in comparison to our own bed. However with the cool breeze coming in after a long day of revelry, we both managed to sleep all right. This bedroom had two generous dressers for clothing storage, as well as a closet with limited space for hanging items. The bathroom is very tight; we are both six feet tall and were quite cramped using the toilet and shower. But again, this is to be expected in a seasonal cottage. The outdoor shower looked more spacious, but since it was 50 degrees each morning we didn't try it. Water pressure was good, and those who enjoy a hot shower won't be disappointed. The only kitchen equipment we used was the coffee maker, and that worked fine. We did have some trouble with the wi-fi in that all our devices (we had 5 total) showed we were connected, but we couldn't get a single one online. We always carry a wi-fi hotspot as a backup, and that worked fine. We were surprised at how much traffic went by all weekend. The road the cottage faces appears to be a local shortcut and was rather noisy whenever we were in the cottage, even late into the evening. However most renters would probably not spend significant time in the cottage since it's seasonal and intended for beach-goers. We enjoyed easy access to the various locations on our agenda and had no trouble getting around the area with GPS instructions. Overall our stay met our needs and was probably less than a hotel would have cost during this particular weekend. We can recommend it to those travelers looking for a base of operations in the Wakefield area.
