The Rio Grande runs right across the street from this two-bedroom home in South Fork, where you'll be able to spend your days fishing for abundant brown and rainbow trout. On this quiet, dead-end, dirt road, there are no buildings to block your view of the river, so you can wake up and go to sleep with the water in sight. Whether you're traveling to South Fork to ride ATVs, explore Rio Grande National Forest, or ski the fresh powder at Wolf Creek Ski Area (21 miles southwest), this house makes a wonderful home base. Enjoy a beautifully updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and an island that provides space for both prepping and dining, comfortable living room furniture placed in front of a flatscreen TV, large windows that let in plenty of natural light, and free WiFi. At night, take your pick of two comfortable bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with a double bed.

Great house, exceeded expectations
Great little house directly across from the river. Very quiet and the home is wonderfully appointed with a killer kitchen, stove, refrigerator and living room. Our only complaint is the beds are just doubles, not queens, so if you’re used to something bigger you gonna fit pretty tight.

Great stay, property was very clean and the kitchen is awesome! It was -5* when we arriving late in the evening so it took a while to warm the place up but it was comfortable once it warmed up.

Great house just needs a little A/C
Great house with great location right across from the river, drive from house to town or trails on UTV. Only complaint is being from Texas there were no A/C in house. They recommended leaving all blinds closed and windows during the day but that didn't really work. We used plenty of fans. Amazing kitchen and island area.

South Fork House as advertised
The property is as advertised. Kitchen had amazing high end appliances. Bedrooms clean and nice. A bit lacking on extra bedding for futon, but we made do. Bathrooms clean, big, and nice. Easy access to all the good hiking in the area. House right off the highway next to river. Worked for 3 friends for a quick weekend getaway to enjoy a few hikes and good conversations. Check in and out was easy and good communication with property manager.

Nice retreat by the Rio Grande
We had a lovely stay at this home on the Rio Grande riverfront. The river can be seen right through two huge windows at front of house. We saw many mergansers cruising up and down the river right from the living room. Kitchen is large with very nice high end appliances -- crock pot was nice touch. Bedrooms are a bit small, but living room is huge and comfortable. WiFi worked well... heat works well, but just don't try to use both space heaters at the same time (blows the fuse). Stand up shower head might need some serious CLR (showerhead sprays water in weird directions). Linens (sheets and towels) were all high quality. Washer/dryer is awesome large capacity, but a bit scary-noisy because of its power. BIRDERS: Loved birdwatching along the road/riverfront (Canada geese, bald eagle, red-winged blackbirds, white breasted nuthatches, common mergansers, magpies, sparrows, American dippers, dark eyed juncos all just along our walk down the dirt road of the neighborhood.) Quite peaceful. We also had a chance to check out Monte Vista NWR (about 30-40 minute drive) for sandhill cranes too. Imagine it is a great place to fly fish in warmer weather. A few minutes drive to small town of South Fork. Convenient to Wolf Creek Ski Area (about 30 min drive.)

Great stay.
We stayed for four nights during winter. Great location. Loved the huge kitchen, great stove,, the abundant utensils, and etc. All of the electric appliances are high-end. The wooden floor was clean, and the two bathrooms worked perfect for our family. The washer and dryer came very handy. The management was great. However, when it got really cold, and we were using electric heaters in both rooms, the electricity fuse went out, and we had to re-connect them several times. Other then that great stay!

Lovely home and location
We had a great trip and loved the cabin - very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is beautiful but a little understocked - when we arrived, there was only one wine glass and two water glasses. Also, plenty of pots and pans but no baking dish. Not a huge deal but with such a large kitchen, I would have expected a bit more. Communication was good and the location is lovely - so many great options for exploring nature in the area. We would definitely go back.

8-Night Stay at SFRG Cabin
Fishing buddy and I stayed for eight nights. Centrally located for our needs; South Fork had everything we needed; grocery, hardware store, restaurants (Ramon’s is excellent,) professional fly shop with knowledgeable staff. Cabin had everything we needed, though spare in an area or two. We were only furnished one key. Adequate, as we were always together, but it would have made the logistics of daily unlock/load/unload a little simpler. Appliances in kitchen - top notch. Dinnerware, pots/pans - top notch. Cooking utensils; not so much, but adequate. Condiments on the spare side, but grocery just down the road. Separate bedrooms, bathrooms a nice touch. Beds were comfortable. Our stay was immediately preceded by the record snowfall, and the weather during the first few days was rather cool. Cabin has two, large portable fans, and, more importantly for us, two nice portable heaters - one for each bedroom. The living room stationary heater became adequate after the first couple of nights as; 1) the cabin itself warmed up; and, 2) the weather warmed up. After the weather warmed up to the lower 70s, the dual ceiling fans were appreciated after a long day on the water. Casual seating was VERY comfortable; the chairs and sofa were not broken down, as they are in many rentals. Nice TV, though just a decoration for us, for the most part. Great communication and response time with/from owner. Neighbors along the road very friendly. Always felt our belongings were safe in the house as we fished long hours. For those coming to fly fish, an added benefit is that there is actually enough SPACE in the living room to safely work on your fly rod w/o danger of breaking it. That was a huge plus. (Remember, though - ceiling fans are the fly rod’s Achille’s heel.) Propane grill worked great, after a little coaxing from the built-in electronic ignition, and the two outdoor chairs were comfortable for extended ‘river watching.’ Overall, an excellent place to stay - comfortable and quiet, yet close to everything you want/need. Will certainly return, as the owner/cabin make for a great experience.

Absolutely Amazing!
Diana (property manager) was absolutely amazing!! We couldn't have been happier with this place, the kitchen (OH.MY.GOSH) was what my dreams are made of. The place was open and spacious and allowed us to invite our family over to relax for the day. Everything was clean and customer oriented. Honestly it was like they had already thought of everything. I was VERY impressed and will stay here again.

The inside of the house is beautiful. But while in the mountains we’d like to spend time outside also. Adding a fire pit, table, chairs etc would be helpful.
