"Still needs some work. Hallways are dark and dreary. Not sure the flooring in the rooms was the way to go as they are noisy above and below your room. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. The VIP status got us a bottle of wine was there supposed to be other amenities as a VIP?"

Ilha de Cabanas is one of six barrier islands along the Ria Formasa which runs 60km from Faro to Manta Rota and makes up 18,400 hectares of protected nature reserve. . To reach the beach you have to take a boat from Cabanas, most hotels provide a boat service or you can catch a water taxi from the boardwalk. And then there is a 5-10min walk along a paving stone path through the marshland. It can get windy, as you can see from this couple sheltering under their parasol. Watch out for sand burn! The beach stretches as far as you can see, excellent for a long walk along the shore with waves lapping at your feet - one of my favourite pastimes. I was here in early May and the beach was practically deserted, by 4pm I had this section of beach to myself. Further up the beach, closer to where the water taxi drop off an pick up there are sun loungers, parasols and a cafe bar. I have heard the boats can get pretty busy in peak tourist times, but the journey is only about 5 minutes each way so you shouldn't have to wait too long. #NationalPark #Beach
