Altitude Adjustment: a log cabin retreat nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains near award-winning, Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Enjoy the tranquility of 5 acres of private land, relax in the outdoor hot tub under the starlit sky, and cook up your family's favorites in the fully equipped kitchen. Whether you're here for an adventure on the slopes or seeking a peaceful getaway, Altitude Adjustment offers the perfect blend of relaxation and luxury for your stay in Snowshoe.

This cabin features three king sized beds (in 2 bedrooms + large loft) and two full bathrooms. The large upstairs spa-like bathroom has a glass and stone walk-in shower and large double vanity, while the downstairs full bathroom offers a tub and shower combo - perfect for families with young children. The private balcony off the Primary suite offers stunning views of Snowshoe's Western Territory and is great place to watch for wildlife from a birds' eye view. Alternatively, take your morning coffee in one of the rocking chairs on the large front porch - steps away from the meadow-like backyard which frequently showcases all kinds of WV wildlife!

The cabin is conveniently located near some of West Virginia's most beautiful attractions, including nearby Snowshoe Resort with year-round activities and events, and award winning Raven Golf club (9 minutes.) There are unlimited adventures to be had while staying around Snowshoe, but if you want to use the cabin as a home base for exploring more of West Virginia, New River Gorge National Park, Seneca Rocks and White Sulphur Springs make the perfect, scenic day trips for more exploring. The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) has recently awarded Watoga State Park, in nearby Marlinton, with the official Dark Sky Park status - meaning it's one of best places in the WORLD for stargazing!

After a day of adventure, let all your cares melt away in the hot tub underneath a spectacular WV starlit sky, or gather around the outdoor fire pit for s’mores. The cabin also features Wi-Fi, RoKu TV's, and 5G cell service (AT&T and Verizon), so you can enjoy all the comforts of home in a tranquil mountain setting.

We take great pride in ensuring our guests have a comfortable and memorable stay. We provide clean linens, towels, basic soaps, and are available 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns.

Please note: Due to our charming, natural woodland surroundings, there is a very small chance you may encounter wildlife (a mouse or a bug) while staying at this, or any cabin, in the area. We take *every* measure possible to prevent such occurrences and maintain a meticulously clean and comfortable environment. These measure include monthly prevention treatments through Orkin and regular inspections by Orkin and our cleaning team. But, like the the locals say, this is just a part of living in the mountains :)

Please Note:
1) 4WD OR AWD + Snow Tires/Chains required for winter/snowy months.
2) We, like most homes in the area, do not have air conditioning. This area of the mountains stays very cool most of the year. If it does warm up in August, we all rely on "AC by Mountain Breezes" :) We also supply fans for each bedroom and the house cools quickly once the sun goes down.

*Please be advised: There are outdoor security cameras around the property. Cameras are not monitored while renters are staying, and there are no cameras inside the property.

Gorgeous Property
A Beautiful home in the middle of pure nature. Relaxing in that Hot Tub with those amazing views is tough to beat! The home offers everything one ever really needs and Charissa, the Property manager, was very easy to work with and reachable at anytime. IF you're looking for some quiet time, tons of outside/nature activities and a wonderful home, you can't miss out on this one!

perfectly clean home close to snowshoe
Our family enjoyed our peaceful stay in Slaty Fork during the shoulder season. The home was impeccably clean and appointed. The information packet was jam-packed with useful bits. If we were to come back for skiing or downhill racing, I would stay there–absolutely.

Great Cabin
We enjoyed our stay very much at this great retreat. Plenty to do and see in the area as well as a comfortable cabin to spend time in. Hot tub was a great addition and the views are nice from the back deck.

Perfect Location and Property
My girlfriend and I just stayed for 5 nights, and it was the perfect place to get away, switch off from life's stresses and just relax. The location is wonderful, plenty of trees, totally secluded from neighbors, wonderful views of both the scenery and, for us more importantly, the night sky. The lack of radiant light nearby meant you could see the stars so clearly. The place itself is perfect, very well-equipped kitchen, large lounge, very comfortable bedrooms. The only things you need to bring are food, drink and maybe a kettle (LOL, well, we are English!). The balcony off the master bedroom was a bonus, the hot tub was totally secluded and our favorite part, the wooden verandah was perfect for just sitting and taking in the scenery. We were visited by deer every day too; they seem to like the grass outside the back. The owners are very helpful and attentive. Any questions were answered promptly and fully. Overall, this was a perfect place for a wonderful vacation, and we will be returning.

Wonderful 20th anniversary
Everything was great, very relaxing, the only improvement I would make is giving spasific house number with directions because once you get in to the neighborhood the navigator doesn't know what location to go to

Great place to stay with amenities
We were pleased with the accuracy of the listing. Pretty much spot on. Amenities in the house allowed us to cook in when we wanted. View outside is outstanding. Hot tub is in great working order and was relaxing to use. Fire pit in great shape and was easy to get up and running. Only two things of mention was the cleanliness of the upstairs shower (hair in drain) and the air conditioning (would not cool to selected temperature, but ultimately not needed by the time we went to bed). Would highly recommend this property to others.

Magnificent
Saw this listing as an ideal booking for Our 31st wedding Anniversary train ride on the nearby Cass Train. This property is truly wonderful, perfectly decorated, extremely well stocked w/ all one could need, and has glorious views and outdoor seating to take in the wildlife and peaceful sounds of nature and songbirds. It’s off the main road and beaten path, which allowed us to unplug from the noise and hustle bustle of everyday life. Our hostess Charissa was extremely helpful, and a delight in hospitality. She was helpful with any questions/ issues and sent us quick responses, including a wonderful guide of all things pertaining to the property. We love the home and enjoyed our opportunity to experience this listing and will definitely include it in our plans for another stay in our future. This area has lots to offer and do, so we do wish we had booked an additional day for us to fit more in, but it gives us an excuse to return soon. We can’t say enough about how well kept and thought out every aspect of this listing was. The only thing we would suggest is a later check out for our stay. 9am is not ideal when you are on vacation, and we almost didn’t book because of the early check out. 10/ 11am would be more appealing for vacationers and old married folks like Us celebrating 3 decacdes of matrimony. Glad we did choose this gem in the mountains. We had a really lovely stay, and appreciate Charissa’s efforts to make our stay and future plans to revisit so positive.
