Cabin hadn’t been cleaned. Host arrived at 9:30 pm & tried to convince us it could be cleaned (beds redone, bathrooms sanitized, kitchen cleaned, floors swept, the whole 9 yards) before we went to bed.
Discussed with hosts & they offered to: reduce our nights from 3 to 2, cover our meal that night, & cover our hotel costs. We thought this reasonable since: this was the night before Thanksgiving, & our evening was a total bust; not easy to hangout & have “family time” at a hotel; couldn’t do meal prep for Thanksgiving; had to unpack/pack @ hotel & unpack/pack @cabin; our hotel costs were very reasonable.
Booking updated the next day showing nights reduce to 2, but the price stayed the same. Forwarded hotel receipts & noticed a price reduction, but not equal our verbal contract. I inquired when we would receive our full refund, & was told the refund had been made. Looking closely @ updated booking, the number of nights went from 3 to 2, but the cost per night increased keeping total cost the same. Only hotel costs were reimbursed. This wasn’t what was agreed to, but a backdoor way of not keeping their end of the agreement.
I followed up with Vrbo, & although they sounded like they cared, nothing was ultimately done. Hosts are able to change per night costs on their end & renters apparently have no recourse with Vrbo. We will never stay at a place owned by this host, & likely never with Vrbo again.
