April 2023 stay
The house was fine for a quick stay and the property manager was responsive when called. Of important note, the listing is misleading in that there are only 2 bathrooms (not 3 as listed) and the home is not 1700 sq ft (it was around 1200-1300).

Lovely, Peaceful Country Location
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Whispering Winds with a family group in town for a wedding near Cedar Creek. We especially loved the peaceful nature sounds day and night, as well as the beautiful night skies. The house was very comfortable for a group, with lots of fun outdoor hang-out areas. Highly recommended.

Excellent Retreat Space with the Family
The photos online captured the peaceful, pastoral setting perfectly. Such a joy to wake to the songs of birds, cows mooing in the distance and watching horses in the neighboring pasture while savoring my morning coffee in the outdoor rocking chair. Kitchen was fully equipped to handle meal preparation. Beds and linens were comforting. Cute decor tastefully presented. Great location on the river with nearby grocery store in Smithville and Buescher State Park for exploring. Kayaking was terrific with support of local Rising Phoenix Adventures.

Rentin' on the River
Fun and funky country retreat for a large family or a group of quarantine circle friends. The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed hiking in the nearby state parks, renting kayaks from Rising Phoenix and cooking out at night under the stars. It is in the country, so expect all the usual Texas bugs and critters, according to the season. We were a group of six adults and six kids, although it would really be ideal for groups of six to eight if you want plenty of space. We didn't realize until the end that the paint and paintbrushes were also for guests to paint river rocks, or we would have added to the collection. We would rent it again!
